Before this year comes to a close, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will receive brand-new game updates and even more free content. Ubisoft released the Vikings-centric Assassin’s Creed entry approximately one year ago and though it took time for the title to settle into a good post-launch rhythm, lead developer Ubisoft Montréal has given players plenty of reasons to regularly revisit 9th Century England.
AC Valhalla’s first major update launched late last year as Yule Festival, a limited-time event that decorated the Ravensthorpe settlement in seasonal furnishings and unlocked fresh activities. Other seasonal events have come and gone since then, marking occasions such as the advent of spring or summer. Previous updates from Ubisoft Montréal additionally introduced new game modes to AC Valhalla, with the admittedly divisive River Raids counting among the most notable. And just recently, all players were treated to the rollout of the Discovery Tour: Viking Age mode, the educational-focused exploration offering that Ubisoft debuted a few years ago for Assassin’s Creed: Origins.
With 2021 nearly at an end, the Assassin’s Creed Twitter account has shared a tease of what’s coming next in terms of AC Valhalla’s post-launch extras. The “sneak peek” boasts an image hinting at four upcoming changes to the open-world experience. One such change goes live on November 9 as Title Update 1.4.0. That same day will also see Ubisoft Montréal add a free game activity titled, “Tombs of the Fallen.” Between November 11 and December 2, AC Valhalla will play host to the limited-time Oskoreia Festival. Finally, users can expect Title Update 1.4.1 to arrive sometime in December. Since the below social media post merely serves as a glimpse at what’s on the horizon, specifics about each update presently remain under lock and key.

As Ubisoft’s second-most lucrative game, it’s no wonder AC Valhalla support has yet to cease. The upcoming 2021 content won’t mark the end of this particular Assassin’s Creed era, either. Ubisoft previously made it clear that a second year of content will begin rolling out sometime in 2022. This is an unprecedented move for the long-running action series, yet makes sense in the grand scheme of things.
On top of the free game updates and seasonal events, AC Valhalla’s post-launch content additionally includes two paid expansions. Wrath of the Druids went live in May and let Eivor loose on an Ireland-set map. The Siege of Paris hit digital stores over the summer, offering an experience centered around the Viking conflict with the Kingdom of Francia.
