Attack on Titan has announced a special event that will be held ahead of the series’ final episodes. The final season, which is being aired in two parts, premiered in December of 2020. The part 1 finale aired in March of 2021, and audiences have been eagerly awaiting a conclusion ever since. Part two of the final season is set to begin airing on January 9th, 2022.

The anime, originally adapted from Hajime Isayama’s manga series, has been running since September of 2013 to much critical success. The story follows young Eren, a boy who has vowed to rid the world of the giants known as Titans, who killed his mother and have almost eradicated the human race. The series has received almost universal acclaim from audiences since it began. After it began airing in 2013, it became the number one selling anime in Japan of that year. With its incredibly high ratings (including 8 episodes which sport an almost unheard of 9.9 on IMDB), fans will be thrilled with the new announcement.

On October 18th, shingeki.tv (the show’s official website) shared a link on their Twitter page for a special event. Those who follow the link will find a page outlining the details for an event that will celebrate the conclusion of this beloved series. The event will be held in the Kawaguchi Comprehensive Cultural Center in Kawaguchi, Japan on November 14th, 2021. It also boasts exciting guest appearances from many of the series’ lead actors including Yuki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Marina Inoue (Armin), Kisho Taniyama (Jean), and Yu Kobayashi (Sasha). It is currently unclear exactly what the special event will entail, but the announcement makes several references to a “performance.” Check out the announcement below:

While the actual events of the evening remain a mystery, fans can be assured that this event will be different from many other fan events that they may have attended in the past. The majority of the announcement is taken up by rules to keep the event a COVID safe environment. Attendees will be expected to disinfect both their hands and the soles of their shoes upon arrival. Masks must be worn at all times. When the event is over, attendees will not be allowed to exit until instructed by a staff member. Fans are also encouraged to refrain from bringing gifts for the performers.

Despite these new rules, it is likely that this will prove to be an unmissable experience for fans. While the exact details are unknown, it is safe to say that the event will be a performance of some kind. The details in the announcement make it clear that fans are to remain in their seats until the end of the event, which is unlike many other fan conventions. With a small note at the bottom of the announcement stating that the event cannot accept inquiries about performance details, fans are left scratching their heads over the night’s proceedings. Given the inclusion of so many of the show’s actors, perhaps there will be a live episode reading. It is also possible that Attack on Titans fans may get a sneak preview of episodes to come in the series’ final run. The only true way to find out is to attend the Attack on Titan event, which begins at 5:00pm on November 14th.
