According to Reality Steve, the next season of The Bachelorette will no longer be filmed in Canada due to the country’s increase of COVID-19 restrictions. For years now, the overall The Bachelor franchise has been filming new seasons in both the United States and Canada. In turn, this has contributed to the casting of an ever-growing number of Canadian contestants in recent seasons. But all of the plans that producers had for filming Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams’ season of The Bachelorette and Matt James’ season of The Bachelor in 2020 had to be altered as the COVID-19 pandemic brought upon unprecedented travel restrictions on Americans.
In 2021, however, most TV and film productions started to feel way more confident in the safety guidelines that they’ve had in place to shoot new seasons under COVID-19 restrictions, so the plans to film The Bachelorette season 17 in Canada were brought up to the surface once again. Unfortunately, the team behind The Bachelorette will have to yet again adjust their production plans. During the last week of January, prime minister Justin Trudeau put in place significantly tighter restrictions for anyone traveling to and from Canada. The country is yet again bracing itself for a surging new wave of COVID-19 cases.
Now, veteran blogger Reality Steve is reporting that the next season of The Bachelorette will no longer be filmed in Canada as a result of those new restrictions set for the country. This is very unfortunate considering that producers have been trying to get back to their standard practices, but it is the current reality nonetheless. As seen below, Steve pointed out in his tweet that the production team is now looking at different resorts in the United States to film The Bachelorette season 17. The lead of the show remains a mystery, and for now, so does the filming location for the upcoming season. Alas, it is still scheduled to go on the air in 2021 on ABC.
(UPDATE): Due to the updated quarantine restrictions in Canada laid out last week, I’ve been told “Bachelorette” will NOT be filming there next season anymore. Resorts in the US now being looked at, but they are definitely still looking at colder weather locations.
With so many things still being taken into consideration, a lot of factors are still up in the air when it comes to The Bachelorette season 17. The fans are eagerly waiting for producers to set a filming location for the upcoming season that equals Matt James’ luxurious resort and makes up for the low-budget setting that was featured on Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams’ season.
ABC is hoping that The Bachelorette season 17 can return to its traditional summer slot in 2021. Let’s hope that the producers can figure out how to speed up production!
