There have been plenty of actors to play Batman on the big screen over the years, though the world’s greatest detective would be nothing without his infamous set of wheels with which to cruise around the streets of Gotham City. Ever since Tim Burton first unleashed his own cinematic vision of the Batmobile in 1989, several iterations of the classic vehicle have come and gone, from Val Kilmer’s skeletal hot rod in Batman Forever to the industrial, military-grade tank in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

All that being said, it’s only a matter of time until Zack Snyder’s take on the Batmobile hits theaters in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. And now, a video has been made that features the movie prop, and offers even more details on its backstory and various hardware specifications.

In an exclusive video from Variant Comics, a certain Warner Bros. studio tour is given of all the Batmobiles of cinema history, with special attention paid to the latest creation straight from the set of Snyder’s forthcoming production. As seen in the video above, the automobile that Ben Affleck will take control of will feature plenty of perks, including shaved-down, tractor tires, a forward-facing Gatling gun, and a beat up exterior to match the on-screen character’s world-weary demeanor and grizzled exterior.

There’s plenty to love already about the overall look of the new Batmobile, and this latest in-depth examination of the car’s inner workings and overall design does not disappoint. Come March 2016, Christian Bale’s Tumbler might just prove to be a thing of the past when Affleck comes rolling onto screens around the world in this all new black beauty.

Though some fans may still miss the days of Adam West and his 1960s vehicle — designed by the late George Barris for television — Snyder’s new take on the classic superhero car is certainly another bit of window dressing for a cinematic spectacle that demands to be seen on the biggest screen available. No matter how good Michael Keaton’s classic four-wheeler looks in Batman: Arkham Knight, Affleck’s latest ride as the Caped Crusader is the one to look out for next on film.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will see theatrical release on March 25th, 2016; Suicide Squad on August 5th, 2016; Wonder Woman on June 23rd, 2017; Justice League on November 17th, 2017; The Flash on March 23rd, 2018; Aquaman on July 27th, 2018; Shazam on April 5th, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14th, 2019; Cyborg on April 3rd, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on June 19th, 2020. Untitled Batman and Superman Solo Films will be coming at dates TBD.
