According to newly datamined information, Battlefield 2042 Season 1 is still a few months out from release, though Electronic Arts and developer DICE remain mum on the matter. Thus far, only a few details about the first season of content have surfaced online. A post on the official EA website ahead of launch noted that Battlefield 2042’s Season 1 should consist of a new Specialist, Battle Pass, locations, and Portal-centric additions. The specifics remain under wraps for now, of course.

Billed as a live service experience, Battlefield 2042 has years of fresh content releases ahead of it should all go according to plan. The first year of the live service will feature four different seasons in total, EA and DICE previously teased. With those four seasons, players can expect the game to deliver four Battle Passes, along with the same number of Specialists and new maps. And in the lead-up to the first season, the developer plans to continue rolling out Preseason extras that include the likes of Weekly Missions and Limited Time Modes, such as the recently released Attack of the Elves mode.

Over the weekend, credible dataminer temporyal (via VGC) shared details featured in the Battlefield 2042 client, information pointing to the Preseason Weekly Missions lasting for 12 weeks. Unless some weeks appear as “backup[s],” reason dictates Battlefield 2042 Season 1 could kickoff as early as March 2022. Temporyal additionally noted “Exposure” could be the final name of the Season 1 map, which previous datamines hinted bore the working title of “Ridge.” The dataminer’s Twitter post reads as follows:

The #Battlefield2042 client includes weekly missions for 12 preseason weeks. 🗓️ Season 1 seems to be scheduled for March 2022 (unless they’ve added a few weeks as “backup”). 🇨🇦 “Exposure” is probably the final name for the previously datamined “Ridge” map. 🎄 Happy Holidays! pic.twitter.com/FBuxapZvjl

As always, all of the above should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being. DICE, barring cursory teases, hasn’t officially announced its plans for the Season 1 rollout. Such information should go live sooner rather than later, though, especially if the leak from temporyal proves accurate.

Battlefield 2042 recently received limited-time modes in the form of 64-player Conquest and the aforementioned Attack of the Elves mode. The latter, in particular, pits a team of Santas against a squad of Elves in a festive infection-style mode that will exit the game on January 6, 2022. Interestingly, the holiday-themed feature comes on the hills of backlash about a leaked Santa skin, which caused many a player to question how such content fits within the world of the typically grounded military shooter.
