Friends of Michael Hogan have rallied around the actor and started a GoFundMe after the star suffered a brain injury back in February. While Hogan’s résumé is prolific to say the least, he’s perhaps best known for his role in the 2004 Battlestar Galactica series, where he played Colonel Saul Tigh.

Hogan first began acting in 1978, when he played Reggie in High Ballin’. Since then, Hogan has become something of a household name, with appearances in over 140 films and television shows. Although he’s played hundreds of different characters throughout the years, particularly memorable parts include Hogan’s characters in Smallville, Fargo, Teen Wolf, and The Man in the High Castle, among others.

A GoFundMe for the legendary actor went live yesterday to support Hogan after a brain injury. According to the GoFundMe description, the actor suffered a fall after attending a Battlestar Galactica convention in February. As a result of the fall, Hogan suffered a brain bleed that has since left him paralyzed with cognitive impairment. In addition, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Hogan and his family have had to remain socially distant for the past few months.

While Hogan has regained his ability to speak, the GoFundMe writes that it is “unlikely Michael will be able to work again.” Moreover, not only has Hogan been unable to work, but his wife Susan hasn’t been able to either, as she has been supporting him through the last seven months since the accident. As such, the GoFundMe – which was started by the Hogans’ neighbors – highlights that while the ultimate aim is to try and “have Michael back,” the fundraiser’s goal will be flexible and be funneled towards alleviating the financial burden of Hogan’s medical and care bills. That being said, it’s difficult to imagine the pain and uncertainty the Hogan family are currently in, especially with the pandemic adding another layer of stress. However, both Michael and Susan Hogan have long graced viewers’ screens and have touched all who have seen them with their presence; now, audience members have a chance to support and thank both actors in turn, if they are financially able.

Hogan is known for his infinite charisma and his ability to add an unwavering sense of complexity and depth to any character he plays. It is without a doubt that his role in Battlestar Galactica helped solidify the show’s legacy into one of the best science fiction series ever made. Hopefully, Hogan is able to make a full recovery from this devastating injury.
