Disney+ released a new trailer for Baymax!, the streaming service’s upcoming Big Hero 6 spinoff series.

The new trailer for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Baymax! highlights Baymax’s attempts to do what he was designed to do and help those in need, which in this case include a stray cat, assisting Aunt Cass in running her cafe after she breaks her ankle, and attempting to console an angsty teenager. Baymax! is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 29. “Everyone needs a big hero,” Disney tweeted, along with the trailer.

“I thought it would be fun to do a Disney+ series with Baymax interacting with normal folks,” said series creator Don Hall, who also helmed 2014’s Big Hero 6. “In each of our six episodes, Baymax just wants to help someone — and a lot of times they don’t want to be helped. He sets out to fix a physical issue that he’s identified, and in the process, gets to a deeper, more emotional place and can be almost transformative in that role.”

Baymax! will see Scott Adsit return as the voice of Baymax, a role he originally played in Big Hero 6. The rest of the voice cast includes Ryan Potter reprising his Big Hero 6 role as Hiro Hamada and Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, as well as Emily Kuroda, Lilimar, Zeno Robinson and Jaboukie Young-White.

The first trailer for the upcoming Big Hero 6 sequel series was released in November 2021 as part of Disney+ Day, which similarly depicted Baymax “saving the world, one patient at a time.” Baymax! will be the first television series to be produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Baymax! is a spinoff of the critically acclaimed Big Hero 6, which followed a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada who inherits his late brother Tadashi’s invention: an inflatable healthcare robot named Baymax. The two form a superhero team in an effort to fight a masked enemy who seeks to not only steal Hiro’s invention but is responsible for his brother’s death. Directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams from a screenplay written by Jordan Roberts, Dan Gerson and Robert L. Baird, Big Hero 6 went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 87th Academy Awards.

Baymax! will not be the first series based on the original animated film. Big Hero 6 also inspired an animated Disney Channel/Disney XD series titled Big Hero 6: The Series, which ran between 2017-2021.

Baymax! premieres on Disney+ on June 29.
