Below Deck Captain Sandy Claims Hannah Ferrier Wanted to Be Fired

Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Med is now claiming Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier wanted to get fired so she could have a reason to leave the show. Hannah and Captain Sandy became fast friends when Sandy joined the show in season two. Throughout this past season, their relationship took a downward spiral, as Hannah felt Captain Sandy was micromanaging her and criticizing her work. Things took the ultimate bad turn when Captain Sandy fired Hannah after she was made aware that Hannah had brought Valium and a CBD pen on board the yacht. Hannah was fired and 2nd stew Bugsy Drake was promoted to chief stew.

When Hannah was first fired, fans took to social media claiming Bugsy, Captain Sandy, and the bosun Malia, went into this season with a plan to fire Hannah. While all three of them maintain the only reason Hannah was fired was because she broke maritime law and Sandy was just trying to protect her license, Hannah doesn’t buy it. Hannah seems to be on the side of the fans. In a recent interview on the Side Piece with Melissa Pfeisiter podcast, Hannah claims Captain Sandy wanted to fire her from the start. At the time, Sandy responded by saying Hannah just didn’t take the job seriously enough and just wanted the fame that came with being on the show.

Looks like it’s Sandy’s turn to spill some tea on the Side Piece with Melissa Pfeister podcast. Sandy clapped back at Hannah’s claims that she was looking for a reason to fire her throughout the whole season. According to Sandy, Hannah didn’t want to be on the show anymore and was waiting for someone to ask her to leave, because she didn’t have the guts to leave on her own accord. Throughout the season, Sandy was telling Hannah that it didn’t seem like her heart was in the job anymore, so it makes sense that Sandy feels Hannah purposely got herself fired. She did however congratulate Hannah on her new baby girl, saying she is so happy for her because that is all she has ever wanted.

Captain Sandy also discussed the cameo she made about Malia. In the cameo video, Captain Sandy claimed Malia was secretly gay and that everyone on production thought the same thing. According to Sandy, the version of the video the public saw was edited. She said it was obviously a joke, but someone out there just wanted to tear her down because they had nothing better to do. She and Malia remain on great terms as both women have said they are still great friends.

It is still unclear when both Below Deck or Below Deck Med are set to return to our TV screens. It is unlikely they have been able to film new seasons amid the coronavirus pandemic. The last season of Below Deck was even forced to shut down production early, due to travel restrictions put in place by various governments. It will be interesting to see if Malia or Bugsy will return to film with Captain Sandy, after she ruffled so many feathers. It will also be interesting to see what a whole season of Below Deck Med looks like without Hannah. Fans already miss her and are asking her to please do another season.
