Captain Sean Meagher from Below Deck is touching on Captain Lee’s relationship with the first officer, Eddie Lucas. The original captain had to take a leave of absence due to an unknown ailment for the first episode of season 9. But Captain Sean isn’t letting the charter season fail on his watch and is ready to call everyone out in the process.

The new captain is undoubtedly making a name for himself as he tries his best to step into the shoes of the Bravo legend. After the premiere episode, viewers learned that Captain Sean is also a well-seasoned sailing vet who takes no prisoners when it comes to running the yacht. In the welcome meeting, Sean made it clear he would have no problem firing someone for the incompetence. In his Bravo bio, it says that Sean first began his career in Massachusetts and over the years, he has become quite accomplished and even won awards. But it is safe to say he is not winning any award right now for the most liked crew member.

There is no question that numerous crew members have looked up to Captain Lee for inspiration since he has been at the Below Deck helm since 2013. But now there is a new leader in town, and Captain Sean is not winning over fans. While speaking on The Domenick Nati Show, viewers learned about Captain Sean’s true feelings on Captain Lee and Eddie’s close bond. The host commented that it looked like he didn’t get along with Eddie, but Captain Lee’s replacement quickly debunked those false claims noting they had a good working relationship.

As far as Eddie’s bond with Captain Lee goes, the new leader felt that Lee has always looked at Eddie like a son. The latest reality star noted that he had “a different relationship with Eddie.” In the end, he just needed his first officer to do his job since had didn’t have time to coddle him. Captain Sean also revealed that he feels the producers did not edit him unfairly and gave fans an accurate representation of who he is. So what viewers saw is what you really get when it comes to Captain Sean.

While Below Deck fans don’t have to worry about Captain Lee being replaced, Captain Sean shared that he would be open to participating in another nautical spinoff. While it is obvious Captain Sean enjoyed his time on the show, the verdict is still out with loyal viewers. Fans feel like he came in hot as he micromanaged Eddie and the rest of the crew, especially when it came to setting up that private beach party for the first charter guests. Even though the season was only one episode in at the time and he left the show shortly after, viewers are wary of the new leader’s ability to relinquish any control. Or to judge Eddie and Captain Lee’s close bond.
