Best Animal Crossing Villagers For Adult Players

Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a game suitable for all ages, there are a handful of villagers that may be better for adult players rather than young children. That’s not to say New Horizons players of all ages can’t enjoy having these villagers on their islands, however. While some personalities may initially come off rude and be harder to befriend than others, all Animal Crossing villagers can be endearing and compassionate in time. Still, if villagers were to be ranked as being “best for adult players,” there are certainly a few that stand out in this category.

Certain traits – mostly aesthetic ones – make some villagers less appealing to children. Those often designated as “creepy” tend to fall in this category. They may not be the most visually appealing to all adults either, but more mature players are likely to keep these villagers on their islands. Their less attractive quirks may even be what makes them more alluring to some. Additionally, some Animal Crossing designs, despite the creepy factor, appear more relevant to more mature players.

While any ranking of Animal Crossing villagers is often subjective, these villagers are ones that some parents may happen to glance at on their kids’ Nintendo Switch and wonder what exactly their young ones are playing. Some information regarding these villagers is taken from the Animal Crossing Wiki fan aggregation site. Here are some of the best villagers for adult Animal Crossing players.

Animal Crossing “Adult” Villager: Limberg

Limberg is a cranky mouse in New Horizons. While all cranky villagers have a deep voice not initially expected from such – generally speaking – cute creatures, Limberg may be more suitable for adults for reasons other than the way he sounds. His 5 o’clock shadow hints that he’s an older, perhaps less hygienic villager. His name is likely a play on Limburger, a cheese known for its strong odor. Since his catchphrase is also “squinky,” a combination of “squeak” and “stink,” he certainly doesn’t seem like the best role model in terms of cleanliness for younger players.

Animal Crossing “Adult” Villager: Jitters

Jitters is a bird villager with a jock personality in New Horizons whose name, appearance, and catchphrase of “bzzert” just screams “stimulant addict.” Even if this refers to more mild substances like coffee or caffeine, it certainly seems he’s taking more uppers than what is considered healthy. The wide eyes and dark circles around them gives Jitters the vibe that he’s always on edge, like his mind is constantly racing with anxious or perhaps chemically-induced existential thoughts. This makes Jitters seems more applicable for adult Animal Crossing islands than kid ones.

Animal Crossing “Adult” Villager: Tiffany

Although the Animal Crossing Wiki describes snooty villager Tiffany as bearing a strong resemblance to Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s (especially because of her name), she certainly has some vibes from The Rocky Horror Picture Show as well. Both movies aren’t really geared towards children, particularly the latter.

The pursed dark red lips, heavy makeup, haughty expression, fishnet stockings, and overall showgirl-esque ensemble comes off as more sultry and mature than what one may expect from a child-friendly video game.

Animal Crossing “Adult” Villager: Harry

Similar to Lindberg, Harry is a cranky villager in New Horizons with an unclean appearance due to his bushy eyebrows and untamed beard. He just doesn’t seem like the first pick parents would have for their kids’ playmate. This hippo’s dirty yellow-brownish coloring can be off-putting for some, with many fans considering him downright “nasty.”

Animal Crossing “Adult” Villager: Rodeo

Despite being a lazy villager – which many consider one of the most endearing Animal Crossing personality types – Rodeo’s design can be interpreted as evil or demonic. Black-coated, horned, and red-eyed, this bull villager has a sinister design similar to the cranky horse Roscoe, the snooty kangaroo Mathilda, or even normal villager Nan. While Nan is a black goat, which has more of a devilish connotation perhaps due to the Satanic Temple’s Baphomet statue having a goat head, her sweet look and personality aren’t as menacing as Rodeo’s look. Many fans have a soft spot for Rodeo, but it makes sense why some may feel his design isn’t appropriate for some younger Animal Crossing: New Horizons players.
