This also relates to the historical figures they came across. Basically, were Bill and Ted’s time travel shenanigans fated? Do they live in a stable time loop where they actually have no impact on pre-planned events?

It’s entirely possible that guys like Napoleon and Gengis Khan met their demise because Bill and Ted left them in the spot where history wanted them. Is there a chance that the time travelling was always meant to happen to these historical figures? This would mean that, in a typically confusing time travel way, the future was necessary to shape the past — something that’s only a theory as of now.

6 Does Time Travel Dumb People Down?

For whatever reason, the historical figures Bill and Ted interacted with acted like a bunch of morons despite some of them being the strategic masterminds or scholarly geniuses of their times. Of course, they’re supposed to be satirical representations of the stereotypes surrounding these people, but the movies also confirmed that they had the same accomplishments as they have in real life.

One possibility is that engaging in time travel could in fact make people stupid, explaining their wacky odd behavior. The third movie has time travel in abundance and a lot more stupidity as well, making this aspect one of the most significant ones that should be expanded upon.

5 Why Don’t Bill & Ted Get Smarter Or Wiser?

Fans love that Bill and Ted remained dumb but likable, despite the passage of time. However, the in-universe explanation has so far been lacking as to why Bill and Ted haven’t gained any kind of wisdom through time travel and even meeting and outsmarting Death.

It could take a simple answer like an exposition statement over the two being a special kind of stupid, and fans won’t have any problem with it. Whatever it may be, the curiosity about their stupidity — especially even in their middle age — is high.

4 How Does Giving Death A Melvin Work?

Keanu Reeves has been part of many big-time movies in iconic roles, but no character can claim to have given a wedgie to Death itself. This happened in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, where the protagonists escape the Grim Reaper through the use of a Melvin Wedgie.

With Death returning in Face the Music, there can be an explanation over how this entity’s anatomy works. Of course, the expectation is that the answer will be as ridiculous as the idea of giving Death a wedgie, but Death’s characteristics are still up for question because of Bogus Journey’s events.

3 Why Is The Time Machine A Phone Booth?

It’s assumed that the time machine used can take the form of anything, and not just the phone booth it appears as. And yet, that’s exactly the shape the machine takes. The physics behind it all is still unclear, and there was no real resolution in the first two movies about this.

With many other forms that can be used to conceal it, there’s not much sense in keeping the phone booth disguise, and this stood out more when travelling in the past where there were no phone booths. That, and in the modern world that Bill and Ted have aged in, phone booths are basically an artifact.

2 How Can There Be People Like Chuck De Nomolos In A Utopian Future?

The future was shown to be perfect, as Bill and Ted’s “wisdom” allowed for a Utopia where nothing bad ever happened. However, the villain of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey was a wicked man who wanted the protagonists wiped from history.

This raised the question over how being a bad guy worked in the future, seeing as there was no realistic scenario for one to want to be evil since everything was basically perfect. Since the future is in doubt again in Face the Music, the true cause for evil can be shown.

1 Where Are Little Ted & Little Bill?

One of the major revelations from the previous films that got lost in the euphoria of a new Bill & Ted movie is that Bill and Ted were supposed to have sons. As shown in Bogus Journey, these boys were called “Little Bill” and “Little Ted.”

As is clear, the boys ended up having daughters as of Face the Music, leaving it unclear as to what happened to their sons. It could be that the sons are around and just not important to the plot. However, if there’s a retcon in the works, then fans deserve to have an in-universe explanation over why their sons from the previous timeline aren’t part of history anymore.
