An upcoming Biomutant update is set to administer various fixes in line with feedback from players, including shortcomings in dialogue and combat. Biomutant finally released on May 25, nearly four years after its initial reveal. The game, developed by Experiment 101, has been through multiple marketing phases, including a playable demo at E3 2019.

Biomutant is an open-world, kung-fu-style game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Initial reviews of the game by critics and fans indicate much to be desired from the title. Nonetheless, in terms of environments and character designs, the game has impressed some players. Unfortunately, one of the more common complaints is an overabundance of bugs, something that can take years to clean out from a development perspective, but only a few minutes to condemn a game to mediocrity in the eyes of audiences.

Thankfully, Experiment 101 and THQ Nordic have heard the complaints and are hard at work trying to deliver a quality experience to players. According to the Biomutant Twitter account, the developers have become aware of issues with dialogue, enemies, loot, combat, and plenty more. It’s predicted that these fixes will hit PC prior to consoles. Unfortunately, it seems that the PS4 version is the one that needs the most work, as its reviews have been slightly worse than the PC and Xbox One versions. Furthermore, there are indications that the PS5 version doesn’t quite run as well as the Xbox Series X/S version, both of which are releasing at a later date.

We are working on an update for #Biomutant which we will hope to get into players’ hands soon. Most likely we will be able to deliver the update to PC platforms first and then to consoles. The update will include bug fixes and changes based on community feedback.

Despite the issues Biomutant has faced upon release, Experiment 101 seems fairly confident about the game’s value. About a week prior to the game’s launch, the creative director compared the game to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It’s certainly not lost on Experiment 101 or fans how bold this claim is, but regardless, the team is very satisfied with the product it has created. Furthermore, not all accounts of the game are negative. Biomutant’s tweet received plenty of gracious support form players who have already picked up the game for dozens and dozens of hours, enjoying almost every minute of it.

Regardless of one’s stance on the game’s quality, it’s hard to deny the work that has gone into Biomutant. The team slapped quite the delay on the game, and the scale of the project has no doubt been quite daunting. After all, a lot of work has been put into making the characters and gameplay highly customizable, accentuating RPG elements. With the support of fans and THQ Nordic, Experiment 101 managed to release a product that has captured a decent audience. It’s now clearly the objective of Experiment 101 to listen to players and deliver Biomutant updates that reflect what those players desire.
