Bling Empire Kane Lim’s Net Worth & Jobs He’s Had Before Netflix Hit Show

Bling Empire, the newest runaway Netflix hit reality series about rich people, follows the lives of a tight-knit group of Asian and Asian-American friends living in Los Angeles. But unlike other Los Angeles based rich people reality shows, this one doesn’t follow the leads from one brunch to the next. Rather, they follow these friends from lavish party to the next even more lavish party. They guzzle champagne, chomp on caviar, and gossip about whether or not the party favor is any good. Christine Chiu will never stop talking about how she and Dr. Chiu sponsored a Chinese orphan on behalf of each and every guest who attended her Rodeo Drive Lunar New Year Party.

The show centers around their emotional lives and personal struggles. Kim Lee’s story revolves around finding the father who took off when she was eight. Kelly Mi Li juggles the ups and downs of her on-again-off-again, potentially abusive relationship with long-term boyfriend, Andrew Gray. Christine struggles with her pregnancy problems, specifically her resistance to using a surrogate to have another baby (a baby she doesn’t want in the first place) to please her husband. And Kevin Kreider goes on an emotional journey discovering more about his identity as an adopted Korean-American. But through all these dramas, the cast does theoretically work and earn a living. Today we’re getting into all things career with Kane Lim.

At 31, Kane Lim claims the movie, Crazy Rich Asians, was based on him. He is the heir to a Singaporean’s fortune – his father controls a billion-dollar company. But there is more to this gossiping, energizer bunny rich kid with an outrageously impressive shoe collection. He is insightful and funny and surprisingly self-aware for what the culture of trust-fund-babies has lead us all to expect. He has a good head on his shoulders and nothing’s made that more clear than his conversation with young Jaime in Las Vegas. He told her straight up that though she’s the beloved daughter of tech billionaire and icon, Ken Xie, she’s also 21 and should be well on her way to making her own fortunes. He told her he speaks from experience when offering his advice.

And he was speaking from experience. Kane never rested on his rich daddy’s laurels. At age 17, Kane asked his father for a small loan to make an investment of his own. Within two months he’d paid his father back. Before the age of 20, he’d made his first million. Since then Kane’s established his own investment fund in LA that features plenty of real estate deals. He’s making his own way in this world and deciding what’s best for him. In the past three years, he’s even made some pretty grown-up personal choices. He became vegetarian, quit smoking, and turned to Buddhism. Of his faith, Kane says, “It really taught me to be compassionate to myself.” After the endless immaturity we’ve seen on reality TV, Kane Lim is a refreshing breath of mature air.
