Unlocking the First Ending in Bloodborne

The first ending is by far the easiest one to achieve. It requires very little of the player, minus completing and defeating the seemingly impossible bosses of the games. This ending may seem unsatisfying to some players but it is an ending nonetheless.

To get this ending, players must progress through the game and reach the final boss, Gehrman the First Hunter. When talking to Gehrman players will be presented an offer, Submit their life to him or refuse. By picking the submit your life choice, the game will end without any further conflict.

This ending may not be what a battle-hungry player wants out of their gore-filled adventure through the streets of Bloodborne. But it does provide an interesting conclusion to a story filled to the brim with violence and terrifying monsters.

Unlocking the Second Ending in Bloodborne

To accomplish this ending, players simply need to refuse Gehrman’s offer and do battle with the First Hunter. Gehrman has two main phases, his first phase will have the First Hunter attacking players with long-range and damaging scythe attacks. His second will feature a curved sword and blunderbuss. When facing Gehrman’s first form, his scythe form, his attacks present long openings for a parry attempt using your pistol. If successfully done, be sure to perform the powerful stabbing attack on the First Hunter and deal massive damage. His sword and blunderbuss phase will require an expert display of close combat skills to avoid his damaging gunshots and sword attacks.

Be diligent and defeat the powerful final boss and you will be met with a cutscene and the second ending of Bloodborne.

Unlocking the Third Ending in Bloodborne

The final ending in Bloodborne is by far the most tricky one to complete. It requires the most amount of work to meet its requirements and may be tricky to discover without any guidance. This ending is considered to be the “true” ending of Bloodborne and will reward players with the canonical ending of the critically acclaimed title. With some guidance, the requirements will be nothing more than an excuse to revisit some of the interesting areas of the game.

The final ending requires the collection of three of the four umbilical cord pieces before facing Gehrman. These pieces are spread throughout the game and can be difficult to discover. Keep in mind that only require three of the four pieces are required to meet the conditions of the final ending. So if you don’t wish to acquire each piece than collect the three and face the true final boss.

The first piece requires players to defeat the boss Mehro’s Wet Nurse. This boss should have been defeated as you progressed through the story. The powerful enemy will provide players with the first umbilical cord piece. This is by far the easiest piece to gain and will serve as a good start for the journey towards the true ending of Bloodborne.

The second piece can be rather tricky to discover. It will require players to send the character Arianna to the Chapel safe house earlier in the game. After you complete this side quest you will find Arianna in the sewer section between the Tomb of Oedon and the Chapel. Once found, players must kill her child and they will be rewarded with another umbilical cord piece.

The third piece is found close to the Healing Church Workshop near the area where you fought Vicar Amelia. Take the route that leads you to the Vicar Amelia fight. Rather than dropping down to the boss arena, head towards the middle area of the top of the tall circular area. Look down and to the right and you will see a small platform. Account for the fall damage when jumping to the platform. Once on the platform look downwards again and you will find another platform. Jump down once more and you will find a door. Inside this door, you will find the next umbilical cord.

The last piece can be found in Losefka’s clinic. Inside the clinic you will find a patient that has the final umbilical piece. It is imperative that you wait until right before you have to speak with Gehrman, otherwise the patients will not be in the clinic. If you find no patients in the clinic than continue story progression. When you have reached the closing act of the game return and retrieve the umbilical cord.

After you have collected three or four of the pieces, do battle with Gehrman. After you defeat the boss you will come face to face with the true final boss of the game, the Moon Presence. Don’t let its appearance or its placement among the bosses fool you, the Moon Presence is one of the easiest bosses to defeat in the entire game. Stick close to the boss and chip away at its health while avoiding its quick moves. If you see the Moon Presence start to glow red, quickly run away from the beast. This is its most dangerous attack and can deplete a majority of your health. Given its placement, after Gehrman you may be running low on blood vials so be wary when fighting the beast. Be cautious and slowly whittle down the boss’s health until you defeat it. You will be met with the final and true ending of Bloodborne.
