A talented cosplayer has skillfully transformed themselves into Micolash, one of Bloodborne’s most bizarre and memetic bosses. FromSoftware’s beloved action role-playing game brings players to the gothic dream-like city of Yharnam and casts them as the Hunter, an outsider destined to join a brutal city-wide beast hunt. The PlayStation-exclusive adventure’s popularity and unique setting have led to many amazing Bloodborne cosplays, with creators transforming themselves into some of the title’s most beloved characters.

Like other FromSoftware works such as Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the world of Bloodborne is populated by memorable non-player characters. Yharnam is host to numerous monstrous bosses for players to conquer, ranging from the enraged werewolf Father Gascoigne to the godly shadow Mergo’s Wet Nurse. While enemies attack the player at nearly every turn, a number of friendly characters also appear to aid the Hunter on their quest. The aging Eileen the Crow, the unhinged Valtr and the wheelchair-bound mentor Gehrman are only a few of the fantastic figures players can encounter in the gothic tale. Cosplayers have recreated many of these characters’ iconic looks, with a recent cosplay of Bloodborne’s Doll expertly bringing the helpful porcelain ally to life.

Cosplayer and Twitter user OBSCUREMergo has flawless transformed themselves into Micolash, Host of the Nightmare, one of Bloodborne’s most unusual bosses. The character’s distinct wardrobe includes a red vest, a large jacket and a massive cage which wraps around his head. Known for his bizarre wardrobe and constant insane ramblings, Micolash’s boss fight forces players to chase him around winding corridors before eventually brutalizing him. OBSCRUEMergo’s impressive recreation of Micolash’s design includes the iconic Mensis Cage, which the cosplayer built out of wood and painted to quite a remarkable effect. Micolash’s distinct scholarly attire completes the cosplay, snapping the madman into reality.

Despite releasing back in 2015, Bloodborne has left an unmistakable mark on fans of both FromSoftware games and the gothic horror aesthetic. Rumors of a remake or remaster have persisted for years, and recent rumors now suggest that Bluepoint Games is developing Bloodborne 2 along with porting the original title to PC. The studio, which was recently acquired by Sony, is responsible for the recent PlayStation 5 remake of FromSoftware’s classic title Demon’s Souls. Now rumors suggest that Bluepoint is taking charge of the Bloodborne franchise as well, with a PC port finished and a full-blown sequel in the works.

With an unmistakably gothic aesthetic and a cast of memorable characters, Bloodborne makes a popular muse for cosplayers. Talented creators have become figures like The Doll and Eileen the Crow, and now OBSCUREMergo has finalized their amazing Micolash transformation. While the character may be a bit ridiculous, the cosplayer’s real-life Mensis Cage looks impressively sturdy and lightweight. Calling to mind the Host of the Nightmare’s horrific screeching, OBSCUREMergo has turned gamers’ own nightmares into a reality.
