In the world of Yu-Gi-Oh, Seto Kaiba is known as an extremely powerful duelist. He runs KaibaCorp that makes new tech to be used in Duel Monsters, he was the Duel Monsters World Champion, and he is usually known for his use of his 3 Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards.
While the Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards tend to get most of the spotlight at times during Kaiba’s duels, he still has plenty of other powerful cards that can lead him to win a duel. Here are a few other cards worth mentioning that helped Kaiba become a champion. Only the effects that cards have in the anime will be considered for this list.
10 Blue-Eyes White Dragon
Blue-Eyes White Dragon is probably the most well-known card in Kaiba’s entire deck. Even people who might not have watched a full season of Yu-Gi-Oh! might recognize it since it was seen as a pretty big deal that Kaiba had three copies of this card and Yugi’s grandpa had the last one Kaiba was looking for.
With 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF, this card may not have any effects, but it’s definitely a strong card nonetheless. Much of Kaiba’s deck focuses on using this card for other card effects, so it’s a key staple that Kaiba isn’t known to fight without.
9 Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
Take Blue-Eyes White Dragon and multiply it by three. Not only is that the appearance of this card, but it’s also how Kaiba fusion summons it onto the field. While fusion summoning three Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards might seem risky, the payoff is worth it.
Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon has 4500 ATK and 3800 DEF, making it hard for any monster to take it down with their own attack points. Even a Blue-Eyes White Dragon couldn’t take this monster down. It might not have any effects either, but it’s sure to protect Kaiba’s life points for a long time.
8 Pot Of Greed
Love it or hate it, Pot of Greed can be a very useful card when players need some help with their current hand. Pot of Greed lets players draw 2 cards from their deck. While that might not seem like a big deal, it can be a game-changer depending on what cards a player gets to draw. It’s even been added to the Ban List for the real-life card game, but it’s still used in the anime.
While Kaiba doesn’t have one during the Duelist Kingdom arc, he starts using it in Battle City, and it stays in his deck pretty consistently after that.
7 Crush Card Virus
Crush Card Virus can be extremely annoying for players to deal with, but that’s because it’s so effective at helping the one who played it. In the anime, Kaiba can use it to destroy all monsters with 1500 ATK or more if he has a card that had less than 1000 ATK, and that card was destroyed.
Not only can Kaiba destroy monsters that are on the field, but he can also destroy monsters from his opponent’s hand. He also gets to destroy any cards that his opponents draw that fit this card’s criteria as long as it’s active.
6 Obelisk The Tormentor
This Egyptian God card packs a powerful punch, and it’s arguably even better than Blue-Eye White Dragon. Not only does it have 4000 ATK and DEF, but it also has an impressive effect. While Kaiba needs to tribute 3 monsters in order to bring this card on the field, the summoning of this card can’t be negated by his opponent.
The opponent also can’t use any spells or traps on this card. To top it all off, Kaiba can tribute 2 more monsters to destroy every monster that his opponent has.
5 The Fang Of Critias
This card helps Kaiba summon different monsters that are fusions of The Fang Of Critias and certain trap cards. From using this card and certain traps, Kaiba can summon Mirror Force Dragon, Doom Virus Dragon, or Tyrant Burst Dragon, all of which tend to have powerful effects, ATK, and DEF.
Not only does this help Kaiba to summon other helpful dragons, but it can also help him to use his traps in different ways. If there are times where these trap cards might not be helpful, he can still get some use out of them to fusion summon.
4 Enemy Controller
Enemy Controller works differently in the show than it does in the real-life card game, but that doesn’t make it any less effective. The main difference is that Kaiba only ever really uses it to take control of his opponent’s monsters. While that is an effect that the real card has, the real card requires a tribute of one monster in order to do this, while Kaiba’s card requires him to pay 1000 LP.
While it’s not always great that Kaiba has to sacrifice life points, it’s extremely helpful to be able to take away a powerful monster from his opponent to use as his own.
3 XYZ-Dragon Canon
Similar to Yugi’s Valkyrion the Magna Warrior card, XYZ-Dragon Cannon requires Kaiba to send three cards to the graveyard to summon it: X-Head Cannon, Y-Dragon Head, and Z-Metal Tank. Once these cards are sent to the graveyard, Kaiba gains this powerful card with 2800 ATK and 2600 DEF.
This card also has a useful effect where Kaiba can discard 1 of his own cards to destroy 1 card that his foe controls. Not only is it a good way to take out any powerful cards that an opponent has on the field, but it’s also a good way to get rid of any cards that Kaiba might not feel he can use at that moment.
2 Monster Reborn
Just when an opponent might think that they’ve finally gotten rid of a player’s most powerful monster, the card Monster Reborn will make them think again. This card is able to special summon any 1 monster from the graveyard back to the field.
Given how many heavy-hitters are in Kaiba’s deck, it’s an extremely helpful card for him to use. It can not only be used to help him block attacks when he might not have any other monsters on the field, but it can also bring in some monsters that he might need for certain fusions.
1 Ring Of Destruction
While this one may seem like it does more harm than good, Kaiba is usually well-prepared for this card’s effects. Ring of Destruction can destroy a face-up monster and then attack players with the amount of ATK that the destroyed monster had.
This card allows Kaiba to have a few different strategies. He is known to use this card with Ring of Defense, which lets him reduce damage from a Trap Card down to 0. If he uses these cards together, he could effectively take out a high ATK monster that his opponent controls while reducing their LP significantly. If he doesn’t have the Ring of Defense, he can still take out lower ATK monsters that he knows his opponent needs for something like a fusion summon.
