Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

There was plenty of doubt concerning whether Boruto: Naruto New Generations would succeed, let alone have a loyal audience. However, those doubters can eat their words because Boruto is thriving just like Naruto did back in the day. Playing off the same Shōnen style of anime that made Naruto the third most popular series in the world, Boruto: Naruto New Generations brings fans into a new age.

All of our favorite characters from Naruto are now grown up, with most of them being married with children. While the kids share striking physical resemblances to their parents, their skills and attitudes are somewhat unique.

Additionally, the style of writing in Boruto is one of a quicker pace, and technology has also been added to the story, allowing the anime to feel like it’s progressing, while not being a complete duplicate of Naruto. Like a good Star Wars story, however, Boruto is very similar to Naruto in many ways — and for those who aren’t in the know-how, this is done on purpose.

Masashi Kishimoto supervises the anime and manga, putting his stamp of approval on it. However, Boruto: Naruto New Generations is written by Ukyō Kodachi and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto, not Kishimoto. This allows Boruto to be similar, but original in its own unique and personable way.

From the weakest of new characters to the best of the best (with one honorable mention), here are the 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Boruto Characters, Ranked.

16 Powerful: Shikadai Nara

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

As a daydreamer and gamer, Shikadai Nara is the only child of Temari and Shikamaru Nara. Showing many traits similar to his father, such as the catch phrase “such a drag,” Shikadai has an overwhelming unenthusiastic personality. However, don’t be fooled by what you see on the outside.

Shikadai is a prodigy amongst the Nara clan, having inherited Shikamaru’s intellect. He also has the whole Kazekage bloodline thing going for him too. He is proficient in Wind Release, along with his mother’s signature Sickle Weasel Technique. Naturally, he is also proficient in using the Shadow Imitation Technique, along with Cooperation Ninjutsu and Fūinjutsu.

As a gamer, Shikadai has a strong moral code and doesn’t like those who cheat or bend the rules. This puts him at odds with Boruto often, yet Shikadai still hangs around him (almost like he’s watching over Boruto).

15 Weakest: Yurui

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Teammates with Toroi and Tarui, Yurui is an arrogant shinobi from Kumogakure (Hidden Cloud Village). Yurui looks up to Killer Bee, as he also has a tattoo of a bull’s horn on his left cheek. He’s described as an elite shinobi, but that has yet to be seen.

Yurui’s most noted ability involves the bubble gum that he is seen constantly chewing. He can create giant bubbles with his gum that can trap enemies inside them, or cause an explosion. He also carries two Supervibrato Lightning Release Swords on his back. We’ll just have to wait, however, to see if he’s skilled in kenjutsu.

With a possible attitude change and some better training, Yurui shows potential. If his team is to survive, he’ll need to step up his game here shortly.

14 Powerful: Mirai Sarutobi

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Mirai Sarutobi is the daughter of Kurenai Yūhi and Asuma Sarutobi, a kunoichi of Konohagakure’s Sarutobi clan. Her father Asuma passed away before she was born and she holds him in high regards on a daily basis. Mirai has a very positive attitude, usually cheerful and energetic in carrying out the tasks assigned to her.

She is often seen escorting Naruto (the Seventh Hokage) and had previously chosen to protect the Sixth Hokage (Kakashi). Mirai has already mastered three nature types such as Yin, Fire, and Wind release. She is also proficient in Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death, Flying Swallow, Fire Release: Flint Yagura, and Wind Release: Whirlwind Fist.

Tools that Mirai carries around with her include Chakra Blades and Military Rations Pills. She is well skilled in physical and close combat scenarios and enjoys being a bodyguard.

13 Weakest: Chocho Akimichi

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Chōchō Akimichi is the daughter of Karui and Chōji Akimichi. She has a ton of energy and potential to become a powerful shinobi. Currently her status is somewhere in the middle.

Her attitude is awesome, constantly hording bags of chips without a care as to what others think of her. Her best friend is Sarada, which means she’ll likely grow stronger as time progresses. Chōchō is also one to help out another in need, making her a valuable team member.

Her nature types include Yang and Lightning, along with a half dozen Jutsu techniques. Chōchō is able to convert her calories into chakra, being a member of the Akimichi clan, allowing her to use various body-expanding techniques

. Despite her defeat at the Chūnin Exams, she can also perform the Super Multi-Size Technique, Human Bullet Tank, and Butterfly Transformation Technique.

12 Powerful: Shinki

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Shinki is a calm and collected leader, who also happens to be the foster son of Gaara. Like Gaara when he was young, Shinki acts and thinks like an adult, setting him apart from those who are around his age.

He has the ability to control Iron Sand, making him capable of using Magnet Release kekkei genkai. Shinki always has Iron Sand on him, along with his puppet.

His nature types include Magnet, Wind, and Earth Release. In regard to Jutsu, Shinki has mastered Chakra Threads, Desert Suspension, and Puppet Technique.

After defeating Chōchō Akimichi in the final round of the Chūnin Exams, Shinki showed excellent control when ordered by Gaara to change his objective. While his team may not be the strongest yet, Team Shinki is one to keep an eye on.

11 Weakest: Denki Kaminarimon

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Denki is moderately shy (he’s working on it) and comes from a very wealthy background. Despite not needing or wanting anything out of life, Denki continues to pursue his ninjutsu skills. Hanging around Boruto has had a positive effect on Denki, however, getting him to step up to challenges while not hiding in the shadows of others.

He shows great skills in using technology, having hacked into the Academy’s security system. Sealing techniques are something he has shown potential in, but due to his small chakra reserves, he can’t effectively use them.

Denki doesn’t have any nature abilities and his Jutsu techniques include Multiple String Light Formation and String Light Formation. The Multiple String Light Formation technique has come in handy and it allows him to help his team in other ways besides brains and technology.

10 Powerful: Iwabee Yuino

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Don’t let Iwabee’s poor grades and rough attitude fool you, as he’s got plenty of potential. He naturally looks up to Naruto, since their backgrounds and personalities somewhat align, and he’s taken a liking to Boruto. Iwabee is highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat, scoring top in his class and having a raw natural strength that others don’t have.

Iwabee enjoys using the nature transformation Earth Release and has become quite skilled at it, being able to create weapons and protective walls. Setting him apart from the pack is his ability to perform two techniques on top of each other, which has impressed even Kakashi.

He can also use the Body Replacement Technique and Cloak of Invisibility Technique for stealth purposes. But what he excels in most is melee combat. Able to use a shurikenjutsu and kunai, his preferred weapon of choice is a jō.

9 Weakest: Inojin Yamanaka

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Inojin Yamanaka is the son of Ino and Sai Yamanaka. He’s all about following the rules while having a blunt and indifferent attitude towards others. His strengths lie in being extremely observant while always being on high alert.

Inojin was trained prior to attending the Academy by his parents, showing advanced shurikenjutsu skills. He prefers close range combat, wielding a tipless tantō, along with skills in kenjutsu.

Like his father, Inojin can animate his drawings for various purposes, although his style is very different from Sai’s. He prefers to use more color in his drawings, making them more realistic.

He also gained Medical Ninjutsu skills from his mother Ino. He’s getting better at Mind Body Switch Technique, while excelling at Cooperation Ninjutsu and Fūinjutsu.

8 Powerful: Sarada Uchiha

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Sarada is the daughter of Sakura and Sasuke Uchiha. With parents as powerful as hers, it’s no wonder she has some mad skills. She’s awakened her Kekkei Genkai Sharingan and has already shown herself to be proficient in using it. Sarada’s nature types include Fire, Lightning, and Yin Release.

She has an advanced control over her chakra, however, she also doesn’t have much in reserve. Sarada’s Jutsu skills are outstanding, having the ability to perform Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique, Cherry Blossom Impact (and Full Bloom), and Lightning Burial: Banquet of Lightning. She also picks up on techniques extremely fast.

Being on the same team with Boruto and Mitsuki will only challenge her continual growth in a good way, both mentally and physically. Having the name changed from Team 3 to Team 7 also makes her one of the coolest characters to watch.

7 Honorable Mention: Metal Lee

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Metal Lee is the son of Rock Lee, with his mother being an unknown so far. He looks exactly like Rock Lee and has adapted many of his father’s characteristics. His strength is top-notch, but he’s often held back by his glaring weakness — a fear of what others might think of him.

He specializes in the Strong Fist-style taijutsu and has exceptional stamina and strength to back it up. So far, Metal has been able to open three of the Eight Gates. He also externally releases his chakra, allowing him to perform Ninjutsu.

His Jutsu skills include Dynamic Entry, Leaf Whirlwind, Multiple String Light Formation, String Light Formation, and Strong Fist. His name continues to be a pun played off Bruce Lee, but with a metal music twist.

6 Weakest: Yodo

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Yodo is considered weak — for now. Much has yet to be shown about her character and the fact that she is on Shinki’s team says a lot about her potential skills. During the Chūnin Exams, she was able to pass through rounds one and two due to Shinki, but lost in round three to Shikadai Nara,

Yodo is extremely confident in her abilities, despite not having much to show for her efforts yet. She also has one of the cooler looks out of the new batch of characters being introduced through Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.

To go along with her full red body suit and lavender hoodie, Yodo is a music fan. She is often training or relaxing with a pair of earbuds, playing her favorite tunes.

5 Powerful: Mitsuki

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Mitsuki is a synthetic human created by Orochimaru. Despite being a product of creation, he rebelled against his creator and set out to find his own destiny. Ironically, this is what Orochimaru wanted for him all along.

Part of what makes Mitsuki so powerful is his extremely high levels of chakra, especially when you consider his age. Currently, he has enough to achieve Sage Mode. Taijutsu comes natural to him, and Mitsuki’s fighting style is one of fluid and graceful movements.

His favorite technique is the Soft Physique Modification, which allows him to stretch out his arms and use them as weapons and restraints. Mitsuki can also can shatter barriers, simply by touching them. He has the strength to cut through a metal beam while also having super stealth when sneaking up on opponents.

4 Weakest: Tarui

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Tarui doesn’t have any skills that have been shown to classify her as even somewhat powerful. However, her character is still somewhat new and things can change. One thing she does have going for her, like Yodo, is that her look is designed around a more modern day style.

Her hair literally goes down to her ankles while one of her sleeves is longer than the other. This throws off her opponents in being able to predict her moves while having a rebellious look to her.

During the Chūnin Exams, Tarui was defeated by Sarada Uchiha in the third round. Sarada activated her Sharingan and used her enhanced punch to strike Tarui. Tarui didn’t respond in time, allowing herself to be hit in the face and sent flying into a wall.

3 Powerful: Boruto

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Even if Boruto had yet to show off any of his skills, his name would still have to be listed as powerful due to his lineage. He currently has mastered three nature types — wind, lightning, and water. He has also mastered over a dozen jutsu techniques. Of course, being trained by Sasuke, Hinata’s family, and sometimes Naruto, doesn’t hurt either.

Boruto has the dōjutsu in his right eye, giving him an advantage over normal opponents. He’s also created a Rasengan, which he applies a wind type chakra too, giving him more control over it. Other specialty abilities include Lightning Release: Purple Electricity, Water Release: Splash Bullet, and Wind Release: Gale Palm.

Shadow clones are easy for him to produce, and he’s gotten comfortable using them in a variety of situations. Boruto has massive amounts of chakra, plus he’s able to control it.

2 Weakest: Toroi

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

Not to be confused with Toroi from Naruto, Toroi is a genin in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Like most of the other weak characters, his abilities have yet to be seen — that is if he has any. An admirer of Killer Bee, Toroi also has a blue tattoo of a bulls horn on his left cheek.

Toroi manipulates a large shuriken on his back with chakra while in a battle. He is also known to possess a herculean type strength. If he comes into these powers, he’ll certainly be a force to reckon with when fighting within close quarters.

His attitude is carefree and the perception he gives off is one that allows an opponent to underestimate him. Time will tell with Toroi, but it would be cool if he becomes one of the stronger new characters within the series.

1 Powerful: Naruto

Boruto 8 Most Powerful (And 7 Weakest) Characters Ranked

We can’t make a list of powerful and weak characters without tipping our hat to the original man himself, Naruto. While not a lead character, Naruto still has a decent presence in Boruto: Naruto New Generations, mostly because he is the seventh Hokage still.

His skills are easily the most powerful in all the land. The loyalty and obedience shown to him from the young and old is another reason why he is, and will remain, the most powerful.

If it wasn’t for Naruto, there wouldn’t even be a new generation. Plus, for those who invested in Naruto’s 700 plus episodes, it’s nice to see him as an adult and a somewhat functioning Hokage. Although, his paperwork skills are still atrocious. Also, despite the rough parts in his relationship with Boruto, things seem to be on the mend.

Do you agree? Who do you think is the most powerful (or weakest) character in Boruto? Have your say in the comments!
