Lord Featherington could return in Bridgerton season 2, says actor Ben Miller. The Netflix original series was an immediate hit for the streaming service when it premiered in December 2020. The show, based on the original book series by Julia Quinn, follows the wealthy Bridgerton siblings and the dysfunctional Featheringtons as they navigate high society drama and romance during the regency era. The show is spearheaded by Shonda Rhimes of Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy success. Season 1 focuses on the turbulent relationship between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and The Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page). The cast for season 2 will shift significantly, with many season 1 actors not coming back.

But, in a new interview with RadioTimes, Miller says it’s possible Lord Featherington, head of the Featheringtons and a notorious gambler and alcoholic, could return for season 2. His character seemingly dies at the end of season 1 as a result of his gambling addiction. Still, Miller explained death isn’t necessarily the end for a character in a TV show, leaving the door open for potential future appearances. Netflix recently renewed the series for at least 4 seasons, so the timeline for when Miller makes his next appearance or how is still up in the air.

The original book series is told from the perspective of a different Bridgerton sibling in each book. Season 2 is already confirmed to follow the books by focusing on Anthony, Viscount Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), and his relationship with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley of Sex Education fame). While Lord Featherington was not a main player of the last season, his death will have a lasting effect on the rest of his family as the Featheringtons will still be a big part of the next season. Whatever Shonda Rhimes and the rest of the Bridgerton writers have in store for the character, Ben Miller is happy to return to the story.
