Bryce Hall & Jaden Hossler Delete Viral Tweets With Thousands of RTs Sent After Arrests

Bryce Hall and Jaden Hossler may have reached out on Twitter with three syllables worth of tweets that were liked at a rate of over 3,500 likes per minute. The posts are a response to concerned fans following the pair’s recent arrest.

Bryce and Jaden are social media brands unto themselves, having seen tremendous success on TikTok and Instagram. They’re part of a social media influencer super-group called Sway House, residing in a California mansion. The group’s combined follower count on TikTok is upwards of 50 million, with about 13 million of those followers belonging to Hall and Hossler directly. Each member of the group also has multiple viral videos with millions of views.

All of this explains why social media was on fire all morning as details surfaced around Bryce Hall and Jaden Hossler being arrested in Giddings, Texas late last night on marijuana possession charges. The story originally went viral when a fan caught the pair being confronted by police on camera and published the footage to TikTok. Since then, millions of people have watched and discussed the footage, sharing the pair’s mugshots over a thousand times on Twitter alone. Just as the news began to reach a fever pitch, Bryce and Jaden’s accounts posted “im back” and “hi” respectively, reigniting fans all over again. Those tweets were deleted an hour later.

WHY WOULD THEY DELETE THE TWEET

Twitter Reacts to Jaden Hossler and Bryce Hall’s Return

They may have only been in police custody for fewer than 12 hours, but Bryce and Jaden’s “comeback” tweets were ludicrously popular. Within an hour of posting, each tweet had gained over 50 thousand likes and roughly 10 thousand retweets. The posts also affected their followed counts which show them picking up hundreds of new Twitter fans each minute.

The vast majority of the 10 thousand plus replies on those tweets were words of relief from fans. Bryce, Jaden, and Sway House’s demographic is teenage girls, perhaps the most ravenous and affectionate fan base in the world. There’s a massive outpouring of support directed at Bryce (age 20) and Jaden (age 19), highlighting that many of their younger fans have a perhaps exaggerated idea of what happens when people are charged with possession of marijuana.

There is nothing else I can say except #freejaden #freesway #freebryce these boys mean the world to me.

At the same time, a small but vocal group of commenters have expressed discomfort at the idea of people sharing hashtags like #freesway when all signs show that they’re simply facing the penalty for breaking a very clear law. For some, two young adults being arrested for drug possession isn’t something that should inspire feelings of pity in teenage girls. An argument could be made that, given the explicit language and sexual content in most of their TikTok posts, the group never attempted to uphold a wholesome image in the first place.

nessa honey, the sway house that has fans that are 12!! were in possession of drugs! a shame that this is what tik tok has become. pls don’t tell us what to do if i wanna talk about it i will. if it’s out on the media it’s everyone’s business period

Adding to the controversy is the possibility that all of this is pre-planned. Both Bryce and Jaden were suspiciously vocal about their upcoming road trip, and this was its first stop. It’s certainly possible that the posts were just part of their usual social media strategy, but, when factored into their other business plans, it’s clear that they could stand to benefit from this increased attention. Jaden Hossler recently released a music video on YouTube and Bryce Hall has a “merch drop” scheduled for tomorrow morning. Stunts with potential legal ramifications generally do well for social media influencers, as evidenced by the man who accidentally forced a plane in Toronto to land after falsely claiming to have COVID-19. A marijuana possession charge is an incredibly easy fine for anyone of Hall and Hossler’s financial status to handle, and it’s an almost perfect crime to commit while maintaining a public image because it’s essentially victimless. If the mantra “All press is good press” is true, whether this is all a publicity stunt or not, Jaden and Bryce will likely reap financial benefit from their arrest.
