10 Passengers (7.0)
This 2016 sci-fi romance had Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence blasting off to space as part of a group set to colonize on a planet 60 light-years from earth. The problem? Pratt’s character, Jim, wakes up from sleep hibernation early, meaning that by the time the rest of the crew awakens, he’ll be dead.
To solve this, Jim awakens’ Lawrence’s character, Aurora. Unfortunately, things grow more complicated as she comes to realize that her early awakening was not a mistake.
Though critics didn’t love Passengers, general audiences did. Pratt’s character was criticized much more than Pratt was himself.
9 Jurassic World (7.0)
Next in line is the 2015 installment in the Jurassic Park trilogy in which Pratt played Owen Grady, a Velociraptor handler at the Jurassic World theme park. Though the retired Navy vet loves his job at the dinosaur-filled location, his ordinary world gets rocked big time after the dinosaurs escape onto the island. With help from the park’s operations manager, Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard), Owen must stop the creatures from harming both the visitors and Claire’s nephews.
Jurassic World received a lot of love, ultimately scoring multiple sequels, the next of which is set to premiere in 2021.
8 Zero Dark Thirty (7.4)
This thriller, released in 2012, dramatized the international hunt for Osama bin Laden following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The strong cast featured big names, including Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, and of course, Chris Pratt.
Pratt played a DEVGRU operator in the US Navy named Justin, who was likely based on the real-life Robert O’Neil.
Zero Dark Thirty was both a critical and audience success, with many praising the excitement and meticulous details of the movie. The intensity and ingenuity of it all found the film appearing on many critics’ end-of-year top ten lists.
7 Moneyball (7.6)
Moneyball, based on Michael Lewis’ nonfiction book of the same name, told the story of baseball team manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) and his push to turn the Oakland Athletics team into a success. With Jonah Hill playing Billy’s assistant manager, Philip Seymour Hoffman playing another manager, and Robin Wright playing Beane’s ex-wife, the film set itself up for success. It paid off.
Moneyball was praised for being full of emotion, energy, humor, and spirit. In it, Chris Pratt took on the role of first baseman, Scott Hatteberg.
6 Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (7.6)
Peter Quill, played by Chris Pratt, has become the leader of a group of galactic superhero known as the Guardians. The gang is asked to protect an alien race’s batteries from invaders, but things go haywire soon after it’s revealed that Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) has snatched up these items.
The Guardians try to escape the aliens’ vengeance, but this soon has Peter uncovering deep-rooted secrets about his father.
This exciting sequel is set to receive a follow-up of its own, which will begin filming in 2020.
5 The Lego Movie (7.8)
Pratt plays a naive, happy-go-lucky construction worker known as Emmet in The Lego Movie.
This 2014 animation tells of what happens after Emmet is accidentally chosen as the “Special,” a Lego that is destined to save the world. This has him embarking on a crazy mission to defeat Lord Business (Will Ferrell) alongside a cast of crazy characters including Wlydstyle (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett), Metal Beard (Nick Offerman), and Princess Unikitty (Alison Brie).
The Lego Movie received glowing reviews as well as a 2019 sequel, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.
4 Guardians Of The Galaxy (8.0)
Before the second Guardians of the Galaxy film, there was a first.
This Marvel superhero story tells of how a half-human space smuggler, a humanoid tree, a sassy raccoon, a vengeance-filled warrior, and a redemption-seeking alien teamed up to form the Guardians of the Galaxy. The misfits come together soon after Pratt’s Peter Quill finds himself on the run from the powerful Ronan, from whom he’s stolen an orb.
The hilarious movie benefited from its witty writing and energetic cast, which earned the film its aforementioned sequel.
3 Her (8.0)
This romantic sci-fi drama tells the story of a lonely letter-writer named Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) who ends up entering a relationship with his artificially intelligent assistant named Samantha (Scarlett Johansson).
Pratt’s character, Paul, is one of Theodore’s co-workers. Paul and his girlfriend end up going on a double-date with Theodore and Samantha.
The smart, artistic, and haunting nature of Her had it receiving a heap of praise from critics.
2 Avengers: Infinity War (8.5)
Pratt reprised his role as Star-Lord in the 2018 Avengers sequel, Infinity War. This time, the Avengers set out on a mission to track down all six Infinity Stones before Thanos can unleash a wave of destruction on the earth.
Star-Lord first emerges on the scene after the Guardians of the Galaxy received a distress signal from an Asgardian ship, from which they rescue Thor. Thor tells the gang that Thanos is set on capturing the Reality Stone, and so they set out to stop him.
This thrilling film was well-received, with many wanting the next installment to come quickly thanks to the huge cliffhanger ending.
1 Avengers: Endgame (8.5)
Topping off the list is none other than the 2019 Avengers installment that ended it all: Endgame.
This final film had the Avengers teaming together to travel back in time to the New York battle in 2012. Here, they hope to rescue the Time, Mind, and Space stones in order to reverse the world’s destruction and destroy Thanos.
Though Pratt’s role in this film is less prominent than in the previous one, he still made some entertaining on-screen appearances.
The film received high praises, perfectly bringing the Avengers series to a satisfying end.
