COD Black Ops Cold War Beta Players Can Earn A Free SMG Blueprint

Anyone who puts enough time into the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta will receive an SMG blueprint for the full game in November. An open beta was announced for COD: Black Ops Cold War this week, which was expected soon after the PlayStation 4 exclusive alpha weekend. Just like the alpha, which was announced during a PlayStation Showcase in September, the beta will begin as a PlayStation 4 exclusive event.

The dates for the beta are more convoluted this time around and there will be two separate weekends for the event. Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9 will be available only to PlayStation 4 owners who pre-ordered the digital edition of Black Ops Cold War on either the PlayStation 4 or the PlayStation 5. The following days, October 10 through October 12, the beta will be open to all PlayStation 4 owners. In the following weekend, the process will work the same, starting with exclusive access for pre-orders and then swapping to an open format. That weekend though, will be open to players on all platforms that Black Ops Cold War is releasing on.

Any players who manage to make it to level 10 during the open beta on any platform will end up with a reward for the official launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. In a blog post from Activision, all the details for the upcoming beta were outlined, and an SMG Weapon Blueprint was revealed as one of the rewards for playing enough of the open beta. The SMG Weapon Blueprint is called Mutual Animosity and it appears to have a prominent suppressor and a scope equipped.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare made the gunsmith and blueprint features for weapons popular enough that Black Ops Cold War will be bringing them back. The gunsmith allows players to customize weapons with a large array of different attachments that change stats all around. Weapon blueprints are an additional branch of that system, and they change the style of a weapon while also giving access to attachments that a player might not have unlocked. On top of the blueprint that Black Ops Cold War will be giving out in the beta, there will be a Russell Adler Operator skin available in Call of Duty: Mobile for anyone who links their Activision accounts and plays the beta.

The weapon blueprints have proven to be a great addition to Call of Duty, and using the SMG Weapon Blueprint as an incentive is a great way to get players even more excited for the beta. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is confirmed to have a full gunsmith system, and building up a new collection of blueprints is going to be quite the task. The Mutual Animosity blueprint looks like a great way to start that collection.
