Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Double XP Weekend is coming to an end and furious players are claiming that they were wrongfully compensated due to bugged or broken Double Weapon XP. Activision offered Double XP alongside its Free Access Multiplayer weekend – which took off last Friday. This event allowed players who don’t didn’t own the title the opportunity to jump into Call of Duty: Vanguard for free and gain double the experience, allowing them to easily rank up weapons, upgrade their operators, and swiftly progress through the title’s brand-new Battle Pass.

The latest entry to the annual Call of Duty series launched on November 5 and features a comeback to World War II action with a cinematic campaign, competitive multiplayer, and signature co-op Zombie modes. While exceedingly similar to its predecessors, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s multiplayer differentiates with an extensive weapons and attachments system that features an abundance of available options. This, however, means that unlocking every attachment for a single weapon can take a long time, as the max weapon level is 70 for most guns. With the news of Vanguard being integrated into Warzone early next month, players are leaping to max out their weapons as quickly as possible, considering players will be put at a disadvantage if entering the new Warzone season without every gun and its accompanying attachment.

Shared on Reddit, user DocDeezy claimed that Double XP Weekend is extremely slow and asked others if the events Double Weapon XP is completely broken itself. The Vanguard player stated they spent two hours grinding kills on the newly released Shipment playlist but barely advanced in leveling-up their AR weapon. Though unconfirmed by Sledgehammer Games, one user claimed the playlist has modified XP values that are slower than regular lobbies. Multiple users backed up the theory by confirming that the reduction is only based on the Shipment map, most likely due to its reduced size specialty that allows players to easily (and constantly) rack up kills with little effort. Meanwhile, other frustrated players claimed the event is completely bugged on some platforms but works properly on others.

Shipment is the smallest map in the Call of Duty franchise and allows players to easily gain XP in a chaotic, symmetrical, spawn-kill-extravaganza arena. Due to its popularity among longtime fans, Activision has re-released the map throughout multiple Call of Duty titles over the years in various distinctive forms. Most recently, Shipments’ latest version appeared in Vanguard, redesigned as a World War II map introduced with the title’s Free Access Multiplayer weekend. Similar to Vanguard’s other maps, the newly themed Shipment features destructible environments – and its containers are no longer bulletproof, allowing for easier kills in some cases.

While Call of Duty: Vanguard offers players an option to speed up their progression with Double XP Tokens, the series’ limited-time Double XP events are the easiest way to rank up. That said, the event was significantly altered for this year’s entry, and it is possible its design could be more geared towards ceasing cheaters. It is unknown if any more changes will be made in the future, but players can hopefully look forward to seeing more events for Vanguard.
