Dawson’s Creek Characters Ranked From Least To Most Likely To Win The Hunger Games

The fictional Capeside, Massachusetts is where most of the action takes place for the teens in Dawson’s Creek. It’s a small town where there are haunted islands off the coast, the new family in town is immediately on everyone’s radar, and neighbors know one another for their entire lives. It’s not exactly the same as the districts of The Hunger Games, in which teens know that they could be picked to be on display in a fight to the death.

While Dawson Leery and his friends might see a lot of the drama in their lives as life or death situations, they certainly didn’t face the same obstacles as Katniss Everdeen. That doesn’t, however, mean that some of them would be able to. There are definitely some characters who would be up for the challenge and others that wouldn’t make it past the first 24 hours.

10 Henry

Henry isn’t in the show for long, and likewise, he wouldn’t make it far in the arena of the Hunger Games. He’s a little too nice. In fact, that’s part of what draws Jen to him in the show; his innocence warms her jaded heart.

That innocence would be his downfall. In a world where tributes train for the “glory” of being the winner of the Hunger Games, or end up in the Games as a last resort because their family needs more food, Henry would likely fall somewhere in the middle. He’s the kind of teen who wouldn’t have thought his name would be drawn, so he didn’t prepare. Henry might even try to make friends, but when his only skills are running across a football field and awkwardly asking a girl out, he wouldn’t find many allies.

9 Dawson

The show might have been named for Dawson Leery, but that doesn’t mean he’s the one most likely to survive. Dawson, after all, is a big dreamer who tends to be blind to things that are right in front of him. That doesn’t lend well to surviving in this particular situation.

In Dawson’s favor is the fact that he knows how to camp, fish, and sail a boat. So, he does have some survival skills if the arena lends itself to the Capeside coast line. Dawson, however, is a lover, not a fighter. He also isn’t always the best judge of character, which would likely mean he’d be making an alliance with the last person he should.

8 Eddie

Introduced during the college years of the show, Eddie is a fellow aspiring writer who briefly distracts Joey from her path. He challenges her in new ways, but ultimately, he’s very bad at being in relationships. Eddie’s method is simply to run away and avoid things when they get tough.

That tendency to run would help him outlast both Henry and Dawson in the Games. He would only be able to run and avoid the other tributes for so long. Eventually, someone would catch up to him.

7 Audrey

She might seem like the stereotypical party girl, but Audrey has a little more depth than simply being out to have a good time. She is not, however, someone who likes to do things the hard way.

In the short term, Audrey would likely be able to charm the audience watching the Games, allowing her to get a few sponsored gifts, just as Katniss does her first time in the arena. She is good at reading people and knowing what they want to hear, which would definitely help. When it’s time to get her hands dirty, however, Audrey wouldn’t be up for it. Witty comebacks, Audrey can master, but a variety of weapons, she cannot.

6 Jack

Jack spends a lot of his formative years trying to blend in and be exactly who others want him to be. That’s a good skill to have when gaining allies, which is why he lands in the middle of the pack.

Jack is someone who would absolutely be willing to defend himself and those he cares about when he has to. He takes care of his sister and stands up to his father in his debut season of the show. Jack also makes his own way in Capeside, moving in with Jen and her Grams, when his family leaves. He adapts quickly to changing times. Jack is also, however, incredibly noble. That means he’d likely attach himself to one or two allies and go down trying to help them make it to the end instead of himself.

5 Drue

The bad boy of Capeside for a short time, Drue Valentine is the bane of both Joey’s and Jen’s existence when they’re just trying to live their lives. He likes to make trouble for others, mostly because he’s unhappy in his own life.

Drue would be the equivalent of one of the “careers” in the Games, and that allows more longevity than some of the other Creek tributes. He’s got wealth and access to a lot of resources the rest of the Capesiders don’t have. With his mother running the local country club, he’d likely have plenty of sponsors giving him a helping hand. The trouble is, the other tributes would be gunning for Drue. They would know they’d have to take him down in order to progress and would rally against him, much as Jack, Dawson, and Pacey allied to frame him for a prank in the show despite none of them speaking to one another at the time.

4 Andie

When Andie moves to Capeside, she’s a bubbly overachiever who never backs down from a challenge. She also, however, hides her mental health issues from everyone for fear of judgment. It takes a breakdown before she starts opening up.

Andie doesn’t make it to the end of the Hunger Games, but she does make it pretty far. Andie is a perfectionist. There’s no way she lives in a society that hosts the Games and doesn’t learn everything she can about them and theorize about just which strategies provide the most victors. Andie would learn from the past games and try her best to get as far as she could, but the pressure would eventually overwhelm her.

3 Jen

Jen is a survivor. Her past in New York and her time in Capeside prove that she’s capable of handling anything the world throws at her. Sure, she spends some time wallowing in grief and alcohol when she loses people, but Jen also gets through it and remains true to herself despite her pain.

Throughout the show, Jen deals with creepy guys coming after her on a regular basis, and she handles them, managing her fear long enough to confront them. She would likely manage her fear in the arena the same way, though her tendency to confront someone in anger might get the better of her. Jen might go up against someone she couldn’t outmatch, which is why she just misses out on the top spots.

2 Pacey

There are two reasons Pacey makes it to the number two spot in a game of survival: his charm and his tendency to protect the people he cares about. Pacey’s ease of picking up new skills, and his self deprecating humor, would certainly fascinate the audience and the sponsors. They’d want to send him gifts in the arena because they’d want to see what he was going to do next.

When Pacey commits to someone, he’s all in. That would make him more than willing to fight to the death for someone in the arena. If he ended up in the arena with any of his Capeside friends, he wouldn’t hesitate to fight tooth and nail for them – or sacrifice himself on their behalf.

1 Joey

Joey nabs the winner’s spot because she’s proven herself a survivor in the show. She doesn’t just deal with high school gossip in Capeside, but actually defends herself against an attack in college, and holds her own against a mugger.

Joey is as smart and dedicated as Andie and as much of a fighter as Jen, combining some of the best traits of both. She’s also made the hard choices in the show, like wearing the wire that gets her dad sent back to prison. Joey would be able to do the things no one else would want to do in order to survive the arena, and she’d likely take on the Capitol after.
