DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

The many monsters of DC are not always evil, but they are always forces of danger and destruction. In their battles with DC’s heroes, sometimes just by existing, they are a danger to the planet and the universe and must be faced and stopped, if even possible.

The monsters, demons, forces, and man-made creatures are all immense, superhuman, incredibly powerful, and all pose a threat to human existence. Some of these monsters are capable of destroying the planet on their own, others could easily take out galaxies, or universes if they desired.

10 Titano

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

Titano, the Super-Ape was the scourge of Superman in the Silver Age, but he’s also a giant ape of immense strength and anger that fuels that strength. Original a small ape that was sent into space as a test to see if a human could survive a similar trip, Titano was affected by cosmic rays and changed upon returning to earth.

On earth, he grew to gigantic size and strength with the ability to shoot Kryptonite rays from his eyes, becoming a danger to the planet and Superman in particular. As a man-made creature, Titano is not part of Gorilla City or Gorilla Grodd’s universe. Lately, with the continuity reboots and changes, Titano has changed as well, at times being a slightly larger gorilla and at other times a robot shooting Kryptonite rays.

9 Starro

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

Starro, the gigantic, alien ‘starfish’ doesn’t look like much of a menace beyond his huge size, but it is a destructive force, taking on the entire Justice League more than once. He has the powers of telepathy, mind control, the ability to regenerate himself and grow to an immense size.

He was the first villain fought by the Justice League and has turned up several times to fight them again, using his organic star-drones to attach themselves to their victim’s faces and control their bodies. He recently made a cinematic debut in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad where he proved one of the best characters.

8 Chemo

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

Chemo is a being made up completely of toxic chemicals contained by their suit. He is a walking toxic soup, with the ability to spew his deadly chemicals at will. He has superhuman strength and can also emit radiation, using both of these to melt through objects at will or to kill. He also has the ability to reform himself if his suit is damaged, making stopping him difficult.

Chemo seems to be nearly mindless and has minimal intelligence functioning mostly on instinct or rage. His only plan is destruction, and he accomplishes that with every step.

7 Karaqan

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

Also known as Kraken, this monster is sometimes portrayed as a protector and at other times as a nearly unstoppable force of destruction. At times he’s protecting Atlantis, at others he’s threatening to destroy it and any number of towns and cities along the coastlines.

The Karaqan is a leviathan by nature, and able to survive both in water and on dry land, has a near-impenetrable, armored exoskeleton, immense strength, and can destroy vessels or a seaside town as easily as a tornado destroys a trailer park.

6 Sun-Eaters

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

The sun-eater are weapons, artificial beings created to be used against another solar system. They are not good, they are not evil; they exist to eat the energy of suns so that is what they do, and then they go on to the next solar system and the next sun. They may be mindless, but their actions are capable of nearly limitless destruction.

It might be that some sun-eaters have gained existence as sentient beings and are capable of thought and are able to control their actions. This has not yet been completely settled.

5 Trigon

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

Pure, unadulterated evil, that’s Trigon. A demon from another dimension, he is an enslaver of many worlds who at the age of one ruled an entire planet, and then at age six, he destroyed it and moved on to others. He is one of the most powerful entities in the DC universe, and one of the most dangerous.

Trigon is the result of a cult member mating the demon they worshiped. Trigon was born from this union, and then killed everyone in attendance. He is the father of the Teen Titans member, the half-demon Raven, who struggles mightily to suppress her demonic side and father’s influence. In the DC Universe, Trigon is more comparable to the devil than the actual Lucifer Morningstar.

4 Parallax

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

Parallax is a parasitic entity, the force of fear itself, and tries to use the crippling power of fear to dominate and rule the universe. The Guardians of the Universe were able to capture the creature and imprison it inside the central power battery used to power the rings of the Green Lanterns. They did this by using the natural opposite of fear; willpower.

As a parasitic entity, it was able to overcome and possess Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of earth, turning him into a dangerous and incredibly powerful supervillain. He is able to create and manipulate vast amounts of energy and can use these abilities to create solid light constructs and cast fear into the mind of his opponents.

3 Imperiex Prime

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

Imperiex Prime is the physical embodiment of entropy. He is pure energy, contained inside an immense suit of armor. He can direct this energy to deliver focused blasts that can reduce an opponent to ash instantly. He has superhuman strength and durability, with the ability to absorb more energy when depleted.

Imperiex Prime had decided that the universe was imperfect, so he essentially chose to reboot it with a new Big Bang. To do so, he would have to destroy the earth and on his way, he destroyed several planets and galaxies. He was stopped by Superman and a team of heroes and villains eager to make sure their planets survived. He is a force, pure energy, and near unstoppable.

2 The Great Evil Beast

DC Comics 10 Most Powerful Monsters Ranked

The Great Evil Beast is also known as the Great Darkness, God’s Darkside, or the Absence. The Beast is the absence of all light, of all that is good, of all that might even aspire to goodness; it is the embodiment of pure evil. It awakened after being formless since the creation of life and the universe by a cult known as Brujería. As it absorbed and grew, and it learned of evil and its own place in the world.

Swamp Thing entered the Great Darkness and explained the nature of good and evil, how one cannot exist without the other as a contrast. They each define the other. God and the Darkness came to an understanding about the existence of the other and a truce was called.

1 Doomsday

Doomsday’s claim to fame was the killing of Superman, making him one of Superman’s deadliest villains. He is a being of immense, near-limitless strength and power, able to heal from mortal injury, his body learning from the injury so that whatever caused it will be ineffective the next time it is used against him.

Doomsday is invulnerable to every conventional weapon, and most unconventional ones, such as energy or plasma weapons, as his body just absorbs the energy growing even stronger. With all these powers, he is functionally immortal. He is an unstoppable force, able to take out some of DC’s most powerful heroes.
