DCs Future Robin is the Only One Joker Cant Kill

WARNING: Spoilers for Batman: Urban Legends #7

The Clown Prince of Crime has a history of violence against Batman’s partners, but the Robin belonging to the Dark Knight of DC One Million is the one sidekick that the Joker can’t kill. Hailing from the 853rd Century, this version of Robin was actually programmed using the personality of his Batman when he was just a boy. Though he’s much more chipper than his very own Caped Crusader, he’s no less formidable.

Batman: Urban Legends #7 reintroduces readers to the Robin of DC One Million in “The Batman With No Name” by Kenny Porter and Baldemar Rivas. And while the Toy Wonder is quite different from the Robins that most fans would expect, he still packs quite the punch. But that’s not the only advantage he has against classic foes like the Joker.

With a daring escape devastating the prison planet Pluto in the 853rd century, it’s up to the Batman of the future to maintain order alongside his robotic sidekick. When a group of inmates seek to take advantage of the chaos, they find themselves standing across from the Toy Wonder – and they make a serious mistake in underestimating him. Robin springs into action, using his super strength and extendable limbs to quell the more aggressive inmates. Batman orders him to hold down the fort while he disappears after the true threats – an apparent habit that the Toy Wonder can’t help but enjoy – this display does demonstrate just how dangerous this futuristic Robin really is.

There’s no telling when the Joker would ever square off with the Toy Wonder, but this robotic Robin would certainly be unlike any sidekick he’d ever faced before. While this Robin is clearly incredibly dangerous in his own right, it’s his mechanical mind that truly gives him an advantage over the Clown Prince of Crime. Even if the Joker shatters his body, he can never truly die because he isn’t even alive in the first place.

This Robin is essentially an advanced computer program, meaning he can be constantly updated and reloaded in a new body if he’s ever damaged beyond repair. Not only would that keep the Joker from permanently incapacitating the Toy Wonder, knowing that he’d never really be able to use this sidekick’s trauma to torture the Dark Knight would probably take all the fun out of it for him. After all, Joker sees Batman’s loved ones as instruments of torture, and if they can’t hurt the Batman, they don’t really matter to him.

The Jester of Genocide is one of DC Comics’ greatest sadists, but it’s hard to imagine that even he could find joy in torturing an unfeeling android. The Toy Wonder may have all the personality of a traditional Robin, but in the end, he’s so much more. For the Joker’s sake, he better hope he never crosses paths with Batman’s crowbar-resistant sidekick from DC One Million.
