DCs Teen Titans vs Invincibles Teen Team Who Would Win

With the success of Robert Kirkman’s Invincible animated adaptation, the series’ Teen Team, a riff on the Teen Titans, is once again in the mainstream. Both teams are remarkably similar, but Kirkman’s narrative skills help him get away with it. Nevertheless, the Teen Titans are timeless icons that continue to influence the world. So which group of teenagers comes out on top in a fight?

After Mark Grayson’s Viltrumite powers kick in, he quickly finds himself working with Atom Eve, Rexplode, Robot, and Dupli-Kate. The team doesn’t work well together a lot of the time; their complicated personal lives usually get in the way. However, the Teen Team’s power easily outranks the Teen Titans’. By herself, Atom Eve ranks among the most powerful beings in comic books. She can rearrange molecules with ease, like when she effortlessly turns some leaves into a warm cup of coffee in Invincible #32 (Robert Kirkman & Ryan Ottley). Atom Eve isn’t the only powerhouse on the team; Mark Grayson’s Viltrumite abilities are comparable to a Kryptonian’s strength. With the help of Rexplode’s explosive powers (similar to X-Men’s Gambit), Robot’s tactical expertise, and Dupli-Kate’s bountiful copies, Mark and Eve’s team is a force to be reckoned with.

Most comic book fans know who the Teen Titans are and what they can do. While many of DC’s other young heroes, such as Wally West, Wonder Girl, and Supergirl, tend to join the Titans, it’s only fair to match the Teen Team against the Titan’s five most famous members. Robin/Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven have become iconic, and part of that is their unique powerset. With Starfire’s Tamaranean physiology, Raven’s astral projection, Beast Boy’s animal transformation skills, and Cyborg’s technology, the Titans can overcome almost any situation. Marv Wolfman and George PĂ©rez’s The New Teen Titans tells the stories of the team defeating classic villains, from Deathstroke to Trigon.

It’s bound to be a close match no matter who ends on top. Both teams have pros and cons, but the Titans don’t have a member as hot-headed as Rexplode. His tendency to cause trouble, like when he cheats on Atom Eve with Dupli-Kate, eventually alienates one of the Teen Team’s best members. Furthermore, Robot is the supposed voice of reason, but his secretive and ulterior motives get in the way of many missions. Robin’s leadership and the Teen Titan’s maintained friendship grant them far better organizational habits. But at the end of the day, the Titans still can’t match the Teen Team’s strength.

The somewhat reckless nature of Invincible’s Teen Team, mixed with their overpowered members would probably leave the Titans little chance. Even with all of the Teen Team’s faults, they almost always succeed when they’re determined. Kirkman’s characters can be very gruesome when their anger pushes beyond their limits. While Raven, Cyborg, and Starfire’s combined projectiles present a vast amount of power, they still wouldn’t come close to Atom Eve’s molecular energy. Eve’s raw power alone might kill the Titans. If Rexplode, Mark Grayson, Robot, and Dupli-Kate have her back, there’s not a big chance for the Teen Titans to win against Invincible’s Teen Team, even with their commendable camaraderie.
