Death Parade Every Game In The Anime Ranked

Death Parade is an anime by studio Mad House in 2015. Throughout the series, people who died went to a bar in the afterlife, Quindecim, where the arbiter Decim had them play games. By playing these games, Decim was able to judge his guests and decide to let them be reincarnated or send them to the void.

There were seven games throughout the anime, with some of them having very interesting twists from the actual versions of the games they are based on. Decim also controlled the games at times in order to bring out the darkest parts of his guests, allowing him to understand them more.

7 Billiards Was Played Multiple Times Throughout The Series

Billiards is a game that is shown multiple times throughout Death Parade. Unsurprisingly, it’s also seen in Death Billiards, the short film the series is based on. When Decim and Ginti first became arbiters, they went to Quindecim and watched two guests play a game as they learned how to do their jobs. Later on, Nona and Oculus played a game together before she stopped Ginti and Decim from fighting each other.

In Death Billiards, a young man who was certain he’d go to Hell played against an old man who was great at billiards. In the middle of the game, the young man attacked the old man and won the game, but was still able to be reincarnated rather than sent to the void.

6 Shigeru & Mai Played Bowling

When Shigeru and Mai passed away, the game that the two of them played was bowling. The balls that they had to use contained fake copies of each other’s hearts. As a result, Shigeru was able to feel Mai’s heartbeat when he put his fingers into the ball that he had to play with, and she was able to feel his heartbeat when she played.

Though they were shocked at first, they got used to playing the game. Shigeru made a deal with Mai in which they would go on a date if he won, not remembering at the time that they were childhood friends who gained feelings for each other before they died. When he won the game and they remembered their past, Decim allowed them to have one date before they left the bar.

5 Shimada & Tatsumi Played Air Hockey

After Shimada and Tatsumi died, they went to Quindecim together, not remembering the role they played in each other’s deaths. The game they played was air hockey. Each puck had a body part on it, with the red ones representing Shimada and the blue ones representing Tatsumi. If they scored with their colored puck, they would get two points rather than one.

After a while, Decim made it so when one player scored, the other would feel pain in the body part that was shown on the puck. Once Shimada scored with his own puck, he won the game and was able to hurt the detective that wouldn’t help his sister back when they were alive.

4 Decim Played Old Maid With Chiyuki & Sachiko

When Decim was ready to judge Chiyuki, he had her and the next guest, an elderly storyteller named Sachiko, play Old Maid. He joined them in their game, as Old Maid requires at least three people to play.

Each card in the game represented something important in the players’ lives. Sachiko was able to figure out that she passed away because one of her cards was a character she had thought of but never drew. She ended up winning the game and was reincarnated.

Throughout the game, Decim sabotaged them by pressing a button that made it difficult for them to play, leading Misaki to attack Yosuke. Although she regretted knocking him out, Decim had her continue playing. Luckily, before she beat him, Yosuke woke up and was able to end the game with a draw.

2 Machiko & Takashi Played Darts

Takashi and Machiko were a husband and wife who died. When they arrived at Quindecim, they played a game of darts. However, each part of the board showed an image of a body part. The players would get hurt in whichever part of the body their opponent hit with a dart. This led the couple to fight each other, especially when Takashi had struck Machiko’s stomach, as she was pregnant before she died.

They also began fighting when they remembered the moments that led to their deaths, as he had believed she was cheating on him, leading the two to purposely hurt each other. By hitting the bulls-eye, Machiko ended up winning the game, but lost the happy life and family she could have had.

1 Mayu & Harada Played Twister

Rather than being played in Quindecim like most games, Twister was played at Viginti by Mayu and Harada. At first, it seemed to be a regular game of Twister. However, after a while, each space ended up representing an element. The red spaces burned the players, the green spaces blew a strong wind at them, and the blue spaces froze them.

The worst of them all, or so it seemed, were the yellow spaces, which removed the floor beneath the players and forced them to stay still for as long as possible. Mayu ended up falling down, allowing Harada to win the game. Notably, the spikes far beneath them were fake and soft, making it so she didn’t get hurt from the fall.
