Destiny 2 Weekly Reset for October 17 Nightfall Strike Flashpoint and More

With Lord Saladin packing up his Iron Banner stand after seven days of intense Crucible fighting, player attention now shifts back to the Leviathan Raid. Last week, Bungie made the disappointing announcement that the Prestige mode for the Leviathan Raid featured a bug, which would delay the start of the mode for another week. The exploit in question makes the final boss fight much easier by removing most of the enemy spawns during the fight. For now, The Leviathan Raid prestige mode is coming tomorrow on October 18, no doubt motivating clans to try and achieve a world first in clearing the harder mode.

In other glitch news, Bungie removed the Monty Python-esque Bureaucratic Walk emote from Tess Everis as players discovered a way to glitch through normally impassible walls. Prior to its removal, players positioned their characters a certain way and then used the emote to gain access to all sorts of areas like behind Tess’s Eververse stand, finding an unfinished room in the raid, or even getting to the Raid boss just by emoting. For now, it’s unknown if the emote itself will return at some point, or if it’s gone for good.

For now, the new Destiny 2 week means all of the milestones have once again become activated, giving players a new opportunity to score powerful loot and continue the power level climb. Here are the details on all of the new milestones, tasks, and events for the week of October 17, 2017.

Weekly Nightfall Strike

Update: Due to numerous issues encountered by players during the Exodus Crash Nightfall strike this week, Bungie has decided to change the Nightfall to the Pyramidion instead.

In addition, the modifiers have also changed and are now:

Original post follows:

This week in the Nightfall, players are lending assistance to Failsafe in the Exodus Crash strike on Nessus. By now, the strike itself should be old hat to most players considering the low number of available strikes and the fact that players need to kill a special boss during the normal strike to earn the exotic sidearm Sturm.

When the strike begins, players have the option to ride Pikes into battle, as the first zone is fairly long and filled with enemies. This section also tasks players with moving through arc pulses littered around the area as well. Once the meter reaches 100%, players move to the next area and repeat the process. Don’t forget to find time rings as well to extend the Nightfall timer.

The next zone features a wave defense segment as Ghost scans a unique Vex object, which triggers spawns of enemies including Fallen and Vex. Overcharged Shanks also frequently appear, so players will need to make sure to take them out quickly as when they get close enough, they’ll explode. More arc pulse scanning follows before reaching a skirmish with a Fallen Walker tank. After some minor platforming, the final boss awaits.

The final boss in here is Thaviks, who many have grown to hate due to being more of a bullet sponge who enjoys teleporting out of combat often. The biggest thing to manage in this fight is the waves of Fallen that join the fight including shanks that like to electrify the floor. Take out the shanks to return the stage to normal and give players more breathing room to escape from the strong melee attacks of Thaviks.

The active modifiers this week are:

The player challenges for this week are:

Flashpoint Location and Treasure Maps

The focus this week is back on Saturn’s moon Titan, home to the rising Hive threat. As players have been doing each and every week, participating in multiple public events on Titan will complete the Flashpoint milestone. One thing to remember is that triggering Heroic events will help get the job done much faster, so players are encouraged to trigger these events as often as they can. Once the milestone is complete, find Cayde-6 to earn a luminous planetary engram, and the week’s powerful gear.

Before rushing off to Titan however, players should first stop and get Cayde’s five new treasure maps for the week as well. Each one is also located on Titan, so players that have since finished the campaign can hunt down these chests and potentially score some interesting loot like faction weapons or exotics on occasion. One thing to note is that players should take some time between opening each chest as rushing to open them in sequential order reduces the potential loot and may even result in not loot being earned after opening a box.

To save players some time in tracking these chests down, here are the five general locations to start searching on Titan:

Leviathan Raid Encounter Order

As it is each and every reset, the Leviathan Raid encounter order has once again changed. The long-term goal of this policy helps keep the mode fresh for players continually going in, but it also helps newer players get used to the Raid and gives them an opportunity to play each part even if struggling.

This week, the order is as follows:

Lord Shaxx Crucible Milestone

The weekly Crucible milestone known as Call to Arms is active once again, giving players access to an easy way to earn some powerful loot. Basically, players need to simply finish Crucible matches from either the Quickplay or Competitive playlists, which then fills a percentage meter. Simply finishing a match is enough to fill the meter, though winning will get the job done much faster. Once 1005 is reached, return to Shaxx to earn powerful gear that is guaranteed to boost that power level.

Call to Arms – Win glory by participating in Crucible matches.

And that’s all for this week, Guardians. Enjoy!

Destiny 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and launches for PC on October 24, 2017.
