Destiny 2 Xur Exotic Armor Weapon and Recommendations for Dec 7

The Black Armory opened for business earlier this week, giving guardians a whole new selection of gear to pursue. Unfortunately, with each update, Destiny 2’s exotic merchant becomes more and more obsolete. After disappointing many with his inventory that included a number of duplicate items from the previous week, fans have begun to wonder when his stock will be refreshed with new items. While the year one exotics with customized rolls are nice, most players have already found these items.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed this week either, though there may be hope for the future of this merchant. The recent information regarding what’s to come for the game has revealed an interesting update known as Xur Bounties. Information is non-existent on what this feature actually is and players will have to wait until 2019 during the Season of the Drifter to find out more.

Before the Black Armory arrives, here are all of the items that Xur is selling in Destiny 2 for the weekend of December 7, 2018:

Where is Xur?

This week, Xur is hanging out at the Tower Hanger.

Load into The Tower and head left towards Amanda Holliday and the former spot where Cayde-6 could be found. Head left after entering the Hanger, run past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit staging ground to find Xur on a platform overlooking the expanses of the Last City.

Class Armor

Thankfully, Xur doesn’t have any duplicate items this week. While he may not have any new gear, he did bring some worthwhile armor pieces, especially for players who don’t yet own them.

Crown of Tempests – Warlock helm

Anyone besides Stormcaller Warlocks need not apply. The Crown of Tempests is a Stormcaller specific exotic that uses arc ability kills to increase the recharge speed of the player’s arc abilities as well as extend the duration of Stormtrance.

For Stormtrance Warlocks, the Crown of Tempests is a must have, similar to other class-specific exotics. Obviously, it’s not for everyone, so Voidwalker or Dawnblade specialists can certainly pass on this exotic gear this week.

Gear Rolls:

Ophidia Spathe – Hunter armor

One of the better year one Hunter exotics, the Ophidia Spathe synergizes extremely well with the Gunslinger class thanks to its exotic perk. Scissor Fingers grants two knives per charge, letting Gunslinger Hunters toss knives all over the place. When paired with Way of a Thousand Cuts and the Playing With Fire ability, the Ophidia Spathe really holds its own as players can nearly spam the melee attack as often as they want thanks to the fast recharge time and Gambler’s Dodge.

Regardless of the skill tree used, this armor is a very valuable exotic to have on hand. Some may argue that Shards of Galanor is the better exotic to have, but it’s still a great piece to own.

Gear Rolls:

ACD/0 Feedback Fence – Titan gauntlets

The Rasputin inspired Titan gauntlets pair well with guardians who like to punch things. Fury Conductors build energy when getting melee kills. Being hit by a melee attack not only reduces incoming damage and unleashes the currently stored energy in an explosion.

It may not hold up to some of the newer exotics like the Ursa Furiosa or One-Eyed Mask, but it’s a solid choice especially for those players who enjoy PvP content. Getting punched and causing small explosions is a powerful and fun ability to have.

Fixed Gear Rolls:

Exotic Weapon

After a very short hiatus, the Suros Regime is back again as Xur’s featured exotic weapon. Introduced inside of the Warmind expansion, Suros Regime allows the user to almost customize how it fires more than most other guns. The perk SUROS Legacy gives the bottom half of each magazine bonus damage and a chance to return health on kill. In addition, players can pick from two different fire rates with Spinning Up, which increases the rate of fire the longer the trigger is held and Dual Speed Receiver, which slows the rate of fire when aiming down the sights but increases the weapon damage.

It’s a fine weapon, but it’s hard to recommend as Pulse Rifles tend to be pretty dominant in the current meta. The Regime is also outclassed by other weapons like the newly introduced Breakneck, the newly added Black Armory weapons, and it’s tough to justify this exotic weapon over some of the other dominant ones like Thunderlord.

Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock for Dec 7:
