It seemed unlikely that fans would ever get the closure they wanted from Dexter, as the series ended in a rather anticlimactic fashion. But fans of the titular serial killer have reason to rejoice because Dexter will be revived for a limited series.
During the time the Showtime series was on-air, and even afterward, fans took to creating memes that poked fun at the tropes that can be found on the show. 10 That’s About To Change
The original last episode of Dexter isn’t just the worst-received finale of the series but is considered as such for all series finales in general. For more than seven years, fans took to using the bad reception for the episode as a benchmark for other ill-received finales.
This meme makes a reference to this practice, as the person that created it looked to sympathize with other fandoms that their finales at least weren’t as bad as Dexter’s. Well, that’s all about to change now since the revival will be rolling out a new final episode that will hopefully fix past mistakes.

8 That’s Not A Good Sign
Dexter was shown to be living somewhere far away from Miami in the series finale, but it’s hard to imagine him not returning to the original city for the revival. This location was very much part of the Dexter experience, so it’s more than likely fans will be seeing it again.
Since Dexter had given up on his killing ways, the argument could be that he’s returned just to have a good time like eating ice cream. Unfortunately, it looks like he’s had his fill of ice cream and there’s a lot to be worried about for the killers still active in Miami.
7 Get Your Mind Blown
It was one of the most unexpected scenes to witness Debra coming across Dexter when he was killing his target. What would be even more astounding is if Debra was also a killer the whole time, which is certain to blow the fans’ minds.
This could actually be used as a way to bring her back to the series, as Debra could be shown as having faked her death by employing similar tactics as Dexter. Another way is revealing Debra’s activities as part of flashbacks.
6 Nobody Does It Better
On paper, it’s hard to believe the finesse with which Dexter completed his killing activities since he covered so many bases. Rather than fret over that logic, the creator of this meme has chosen to instead marvel at how perfectly Dexter pulled it off.
One of the things fans want to see in the revival is a return of Dexter’s MO, as this is pretty much part of his identity. It would be awesome to once again witness the master at work, especially since he’d become rather tame by the end of Season 8.
5 Better Get Your Son Back, Dexter
The argument that Dexter made the right call by giving the responsibility of his son to Hannah is very unpopular with fans. It mainly has to do with the fact that Hannah was a serial killer herself, which is hardly the ideal parental figure Harrison needs.
What’s even weirder is how Dexter spent all of Season 8 claiming he’d turned over a new leaf and that his family was the most important thing for him, only to pull this move. Hopefully, the revival will be shedding light on Hannah and Harrison’s status.
4 He Doesn’t Know How To Kill Facial Hair
As far as how the characters are supposed to look according to the book series, Dexter is considered to be very accurate. He’s a pretty attractive man who keeps a neat appearance in order to blend in with normal people, so as to throw off others on who he really is.
However, what’s never made sense is how Dexter kept a stubble at all times, despite explicitly being shown to shave regularly. Still, fans will love to see this stubble again since Dexter’s last appearance had him with the lumberjack beard.
3 That’s One Way To Put It
A trademark of the series is humor, which one wouldn’t expect from a show about a guy who runs around killing people. Dexter leaned into the macabre, usually involving funny wordplay or awkward situations that form part of dark comedy.
The person behind this meme has perfectly captured the tone of the show, as the picture puts a good spin on what Dexter’s philosophy is. It doesn’t get too bloody with the details, but also gives one an idea of how dangerous the titular character really is.

There’s no doubt that he did enjoy being on a boat regardless of what purpose he had. With that in mind, it’s plausible that Dexter will simply get back to his former habits because he’s gotten bored of being a lumberjack and now wants to be on a boat again.
1 Not Everybody Wins
There are certain shows that are similar to Dexter, and barely any of them can claim to have lasted as long as the Showtime series did. It’s pretty impressive how the show ran for as many as eight seasons, with the announcement of the revival extending its run.
Those who hate this fact the most are likely Hannibal fans, as that series was seen as a companion piece of sorts to Dexter. Unfortunately, the Hannibal fandom is thus far left out in the cold while Dexter viewers get to enjoy a brand new season.
