Disney 10 Characters Who Deserve Their Own Animated Series

During Disney’s latest Investor’s Day, the company announced a plethora of movies and television shows for both a theatrical release and to be added on Disney+. While a lot of great Star Wars and Marvel content was announced, within all of that was also the announcement that Moana, Princess Tiana, Rapunzel, and Baymax will all be getting their own Disney+ television shows.

It’s led to a lot of excitement about the possibilities for those characters and how their individual stories will continue. But, as well as that, it has opened up the possibility of more characters from Disney’s incredible library of content being given their own shows.

10 Pinocchio

So far, all of the characters that Disney is using for its television shows are from some of the modern movies that the company has released. Therefore, it would be nice for the company to go back to the past and bring back some of its iconic characters, and Pinocchio would be a good option.

Seeing what happens after he becomes a real boy would be a great premise for a show and would just continue the lure of his character. Plus, with a live-action version of the movie coming in the future, it would be a good way of drumming up interest.

9 Seven Dwarves

Speaking of classic Disney movies, the original feature movie that started off features a group of characters that would be perfect for a Disney+ show. While Snow White was obviously the lead character, her story was told perfectly and wrapped up within the movie.

But, there is a lot that could still be done with the dwarves themselves. They’re incredibly popular characters, all of which have very unique personalities which would make for a great comedic show. Plus, seeing them animated in a more modern style would certainly be fun to see.

8 Baloo

The Jungle Book is certainly a very popular Disney movie, with the story having been told several times. However, even though the story of Mowgli exploring the jungle is a well-known tale, that doesn’t mean Disney couldn’t head back into the jungle with Baloo.

He’s an incredible character that really does steal the movie with his scenes due to the excellent energy he brings to the movie. Disney could either go back to the beginning, prior to Mowgli and explore Baloo’s life, or continue after Mowgli has gone, but seeing him navigate life in the jungle would certainly be fun.

7 Ursula

Something that Disney has always been great at is creating incredible villains. These characters tend to have great personalities that are certainly detailed, and, even though they’re villains, they are actually very popular with people, and Ursula is one of the greatest.

She has great powers, fun sidekicks, a catchy song, and all of that makes Ursula a lot of fun as a character. Seeing how she develops her skills and the issues that she has with King Triton could be explored, which would certainly make for a good show.

6 Peter Pan

Disney 10 Characters Who Deserve Their Own Animated Series

The world of Peter Pan is an easy one for Disney to expand into a possible television series. Neverland is vibrant, colorful, and exciting, with adventure being around every corner. Peter is a beloved character, and a show based on him would certainly prove to be a popular decision.

Exploring his history with the characters involved in his movies, such as Tiger Lilly, Tinkerbell, the Lost Boys, and Captain Hook opens up a lot of options for something exciting and interesting. He’s a true hero character from Disney’s history, and, with Neverland being so exciting, it seems like a perfect option for Disney.

5 Wreck-It Ralph

Speaking of movies that have amazing worlds to explore in further detail, Wreck-It Ralph would be a great choice for a television series. He’s a great character who brings comedy and heart, which makes him perfect to carry his own television series.

Plus, with the world of video gaming being so vast and ever-changing, a television series would be the perfect way to explore it. Going through the different trends, whether it’s a case of going back in time or focusing on the current world, the options are truly endless. Plus, both of his movies have been hits, and there is certainly an audience for this.

4 Merlin

Disney 10 Characters Who Deserve Their Own Animated Series

The Sword In The Stone may not be one of Disney’s biggest or most well-known movies, but the world that it is based on is incredibly beloved and full of opportunities to explore. That is especially true with Merlin’s character, as the idea of following a wizard who is capable of different powers is incredibly exciting.

But, Merlin isn’t just a great character because he has magical powers. He’s also very eccentric and quirky, which makes him a lot of fun, with Disney potentially being able to really take this character on an exciting adventure over the course of a television series.

3 Lilo & Stitch

Disney 10 Characters Who Deserve Their Own Animated Series

You can’t have one character without the other, with both Lilo and Stitch being perfect together. They’re a lot of fun within their own movie, and, by the end, they certainly manage to get on the same page in terms of understanding each other and their emotions.

However, continuing that journey would work really well within a show, mainly because of how good the characters are at bringing both comedy and serious emotion. This is perfect for creating an engaging show, especially as Stitch continues to develop as a character.

2 Thomas O’Malley

Disney 10 Characters Who Deserve Their Own Animated Series

The Aristocats is one of Disney’s most underrated movies and a big reason for that is the fact that Thomas O’Malley is such a charismatic character. While he ends up being part of the family pets in the end, he has clearly been around and had some brilliant adventures prior to that.

This would make for a great Disney+ show; the writers could go back to when it all began for him and show how his life started and what happened to get him to that point. It would certainly be a lot of fun, and, with him being such a fun character, he could easily carry his own show.

1 Mad Hatter

The world of Alice In Wonderland is absolutely perfect for a Disney+ show. There is so much that can be done within this world due to how different it is and the many wild characters, all of whom have their own unique personalities, but using the Mad Hatter as the lead role would be a good launching platform.

Rather than focusing on Alice, who has already enjoyed her adventure through Wonderland, having Mad Hatter be the focal point makes sense as he is such a great character. He’s someone who knows the world of Wonderland well, and seeing him interact with other characters, showing new elements that haven’t been seen before would be very fun.
