Oftentimes, it seems like Walt Disney World has perfected their wide array of recipes. Whether it’s fine dining (and alcohol) at Disneyland or out-of-this-world quick service eats at Animal Kingdom, they keep managing to top themselves and provide theme park food that is on-par with any of the world’s finest eating establishments.
While one might not find some of the treats and sandwiches from Woody’s Lunch Box at the five-star restaurants of the world, there are times when haute cuisine just isn’t what people are looking for. Located at the new Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, it’s playful, comfort, picnic food at its absolute finest. But which is best? (Not including breakfast items and sides.)
10 Chocolate-Hazelnut Lunch Box Tart
Beginning with the dessert options at Woody’s Lunch Box, this is the one menu item that is not sensational upon first bite. It’s perfectly fine, make no mistake. Chocolate-hazelnut, maple flavoring, and candied bacon is a solid combination.
However, it just pales in comparison to everything else on the menu. There’s no point in ordering this tart, which dabbles in standard sweetness, when everything else exists at Woody’s Lunch Box.
9 Toasted Cheddar Sandwich
More eateries need to have plant-based options, but they’re also getting better at curating inclusive menus all the time. At Woody’s Lunch Box, the toasted cheddar sandwich is technically billed as “cheddar,” but it’s actually a plant-based cheese alternative.
The sandwich is assuredly delectable and it’s perfect for anyone looking for a dairy free grilled cheese. It just ranks lower on the list because it’s a standard melted cheese sandwich on sourdough. The other sandwiches are much more adventurous.
8 Smoked Turkey Sandwich
Only slightly more adventurous is the smoked turkey sandwich. It’s exactly what it sounds like. This item features turkey, lettuce, and tomato (a TLT, if you will) with a delicious dijonnaise spread.
The dijonnaise concoction certainly helps to elevate the turkey sandwich, but what sets it apart the most is the fantastic bread: a sunflower multigrain. Fans should always take the opportunity to experiment with theme park bread when it’s presented to them. Sourdough is too frequently a go-to.
7 Lemon-Blueberry Lunch Box Tart
Returning to the tart side of the menu, the lemon-blueberry creation is one of the newer additions to the Woody’s Lunch Box menu and it immediately catapulted above the chocolate-hazelnut one upon launch.
It might be easy to dismiss this as a hoity-toity Pop Tart, but it really is handled with scrumptious culinary care. It’s a simple tart with a smack of lemon in the blueberry frosting (and filling), but one bite of it will leave a lifelong craving all the same.
6 Totchos
It’s no surprise that the totchos at Woody’s Lunch Box have quickly skyrocketed up the list of quick “snack” type dishes that Disney regulars flock to whenever they visit Hollywood Studios.
They’re certainly not complex. It’s a mess of tater tots with queso, chili, and all the accompanying garnishes of sour cream and green onions, among other such staples. Again, not complex and certainly not fancy. But it just tastes so good that it’s impossible to go wrong with it. There’s also a plant-based version, too.
5 Grown-Up’s Lemonade
Andy needs to head back to his room for this one. The menu at Woody’s Lunch Box does not only play to the sensibilities of children; there’s something for the adults accompanying them, as well.
Yes, fans can obtain hard ciders or beers from Woody’s Lunch Box, but those hardly qualify as “menu items.” The Grown-Up’s Lemonade, however, was delivered to Woody’s Lunch Box with the environment in mind. Cherry vodka (with a black cherry puree) and lemonade together? Sometimes, it’s nice to be shrunken down to the size of a toy.
4 Raspberry Lunch Box Tart
Back in tart territory, there’s no denying that the raspberry tart is the ace of the trio. It’s a stuffed pastry, just like the aforementioned pair, but it is transcendent for its use of raspberry marmalade in the middle. Even beyond Woody and Buzz, Paddington would love to devour it.
On top of that, though, it comes with strawberry fondant on top! Everyone knows strawberry flavoring tops lemon and chocolate-hazelnut any day of the year. When it comes to sweet treats, the raspberry tart tops the Lunch Box menu.
3 BBQ Brisket Melt
After that detour to other sides of the menu, it’s time to return to sandwiches. The BBQ brisket melt is not only one of the best menu items at Woody’s Lunch Box; it’s one of the best quick service meals at the entire resort.
Don’t let Hamm see this one, though. The smoked brisket flavors are obviously brought out by a melted cheese combination and delicious barbecue sauce. But really, it’s the pickles that are the MVP of this sandwich. The pickles always know.
2 Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich
The fact that the BBQ brisket melt is one of the best sandwiches at Disney World, but only comes in at second on this menu list is a testament to how flawless a quick service stop-off Woody’s Lunch Box is.
Something about the grilled three-cheese sandwich is just beyond delectable. It can’t be replicated at home; it’s only at its best in Orlando, Florida. Provolone, cheddar, and American cheese on sourdough? It may sound simple, but there’s something really special done to this sandwich that Disney isn’t letting on about. It’s worth every cent of its nine dollar price tag.
1 Mystic Portal Punch
Lastly, on a list of so many hunger-inducing food items, it might seem absurd to put a drink in the top position. But Mystic Portal Punch is not just any drink. It has a solid argument for being the best drink in the entire world – not just the Disney World.
The actual recipe is somewhat unclear for Mystic Portal Punch, but it does have Mountain Berry Blast Powerade with lemon, lime, and tangerine flavors. It’s unclear how this magic happens, but it is a flawless drink. Sweet, but not too sweet. Refreshing and not too bitter. It’s cool to the touch and to the throat. There is just no way Disney can top this flawless menu item.
