Does Google Pixel 6 Come With A Charger What You Should Know

Google’s promoting the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro as its best smartphones yet — but are the flashy design and impressive spec sheet accompanied by a free charger in the box? There are certain things people come to expect when they buy a new phone. For the last few years, this has included the phone itself, warranty information, instructional materials, and a cable + power adapter to charge said phone. Recently, though, this has changed.

In 2020 with the iPhone 12, Apple became the first major company to ship a phone without a charging adapter in the box. It was initially mocked for selling a flagship smartphone without an included way to charge it. Shortly after that mockery, however, other companies quickly followed suit. This includes the entire Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 3, some Huawei phones, and others.

So long as the Pixel lineup has existed, Google’s included a charging cable and adapter in the box every time — starting with the original Pixel in 2016 and right up to the Pixel 5a that launched in August 2021. Unfortunately, this pattern is officially broken with the Pixel 6 lineup. No matter if someone buys the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro, neither phone has a power adapter in the box. While it is disappointing to see another company follow this trend, it’s also not very surprising considering the rest of the market is gradually heading in this direction.

What’s Included In The Pixel 6 Box

While there may not be a power adapter included with the Pixel 6, that’s not to say it doesn’t have any free accessories. Google includes a USB-C-to-USB-C cable, USB-A-to-USB-C adapter, a small instruction booklet, and a SIM tool to eject the phone’s physical SIM tray. Outside of those things, it’s just the phone and nothing more.

As annoying as it might be to buy a $599 or $899 smartphone and not get a charging adapter with it, this likely isn’t that big of an issue for most people. If someone already has a power adapter with a female USB-C port, they can use that to charge the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro without an issue. To get the maximum charging speeds, though, you’ll want to ensure that the power adapter is rated for 30W or more. It’s also important to remember that both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro support Qi wireless charging. Placing the phones on any Qi charger delivers a slower recharge rate of 12W, but for someone who already has Qi accessories throughout their home, it is another option to consider.
