Dragon Ball Super 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Zeno

There are a lot of overpowered characters in the Dragon Ball series. Planet busting aliens, galaxy-destroying gods of destruction, universe-shaking angels. And then there is Zeno, the guy who makes all these beings look like ants. Zeno is basically the god of the Dragon Ball multiverse, the Omni-King, and the supreme ruler of everything that ever was is or will be.

With such a fearsome character, it’s easy to get overawed. But Zeno has the disposition of a sweet child, at least when he is not consigning entire worlds to their doom. Here are 10 little known facts about the most powerful being Dragon Ball has to offer:

10 His Name Has A Meaning

If a newcomer to the series ever saw Zeno and wondered how powerful he can be, his name alone will give you a hint. The name Zeno is very similar to the Japanese word Zenno. And that word quite literally means ‘Almighty’.

So his name itself is telling you that this is not some random Dragonball character, but rather the supreme deity in all of creation, and the one father-figure who is above all else.

9 A Figurehead

As powerful as Zeno is, he is also childish and easily bored. Not really the best candidate to rule over all of creation.

That is why Zeno consigns all his duties to his grand priest, who employs a set of angels, who are in charge of training the Gods of Destruction, who in turn are the superiors of the lower gods who look after the day-to-day upkeep of all of creation. And that is how Zeno gets to delegate all responsibility and spend his time playing and relaxing.

8 One-Punch Man

Saitama AKA the superhero whose power is to defeat any opponent with a single punch has become popular based on his ridiculously overpowered strength. And yet Saitama is nothing compared to the Omni-king. Zeno can and does, destroy the entire multiverse in a single instant.

All of reality, everything that existed anywhere, simply wiped out because Zeno willed it to be so. There is no single entity in anime who is more powerful than Zeno, and he is the true One-punch guy.

7 Wiser Than He Looks

Zeno is often depicted as a childish, immature brat who would wipe out a universe if he was upset. But later events showed that despite acting like a kid, Zeno has a strong sense of right and wrong, and he created the tournament of power as a test of character of the contestants.

Ultimately, Zeno was banking on the tournament champion using his final wish to bring back all the destroyed universes since that would be the only moral thing to do. If the champion had attempted to use his wish for any selfish reason, Zeno would have destroyed all of reality as punishment, regardless of which universe had won.

6 Not A Good Fighter

Zeno is possibly the only significant character in the series who is not a fighter of any kind and has no interest or experience in martial training. He was unable to follow Dypso’s faster-than-light attacks and sees the tournament as something to amuse him through its drama rather than a test of warrior skill.

It is ironic that the most powerful warriors and gods and angels with the highest feats of martial training are utterly powerless against the short round Omni-King who can simply blink them out of existence.

5 He Has Limits

With such a staggeringly powerful character, who terrifies everyone who meets him, even the gods of destruction, it is difficult to think he has any limits to his power. And yet, Zeno has shown that he is not exactly omnipotent. He was not fast enough to keep track of Dypso’s attacks during the tournament.

After destroying Zamasu and the entire multiverse in the future, Zeno was unable to create a new reality and simply existed in limbo until Goku brought him back to the present. Now whether these limitations are because Zeno has finite abilities or because he simply does not care enough to do more, for all practical purposes, they show the limits of Zeno’s power.

4 He Had A beginning

Zeno being the king above all else would logically mean that he has been the God-king forever. And yet, it seems that is not the case. The Grand Minister once stated that the Tournament of Power began 8.5 million years after the reign of Zeno began.

That means there was a point, millions of years ago when Zeno was not the Onmi-king. Does that mean Zeno’s position is a temporary one? Were there other Omni-kings before him?

3 Highest Kill Count

There are a lot of characters in Dragonball who have wreaked great destruction. Frieza conquered planets and killed millions. Beerus decimated civilizations that displeased him. And yet, neither of those feats come close to Zeno’s, who erased literally all of reality and everything in it in the future to stop Zamasu.

While others kill counts factor in the millions or billions, Zeno’s kill count simply includes… everyone and everything that exists in the future.

2 Not Actually The Most Powerful

So far we’ve talked about how Zeno is incredibly powerful. And yet he is still not the most powerful. That credit goes to Tori-Bot, the in-universe representation of the series creator Akira Toriyama.

While the Tori-Bot is mostly used as a gag character, it is officially the strongest character in Dragon Ball, being the creator and preserver of the series, who can wipe anyone or anything from existence simply by nott drawing them or making any of the characters, including Zeno, do anything it wants simply by drawing the action into canon. At the end of the day, Zeno is simply a fictional character, and the Tori-Bot is the be-all-end-all of the fictional multiverse he inhabits.

1 The Loneliest God

While Zeno commands fear and respect from everyone who meets him, friends are incredibly hard to come by. That is why Zeno is so fond of Goku, the only one who treats him like a friend instead of a God-king.

It has been made clear that Zeno lives a very lonely life and yearns for companionship and entertainment. That is in a lot of ways the purpose of the Tournament of Power, to entertain Zeno and help him meet the strongest champions that the universes have to offer.
