Dragon Ball Supers Gohan Is Much Stronger Than You Think

Gohan’s fight with Kefla in the manga version of Dragon Ball Super reveals that the son of Goku is much stronger than originally thought. During the Cell Saga, Gohan became the show’s strongest hero, but slacked off on his training as he grew older. Gohan hasn’t been in the same league as Goku and Vegeta ever since, but his power did significantly improve just in time for the Tournament of Power.

After being disgusted with himself over his performance in the Golden Frieza Saga, Gohan set out to get back into fighting shape, and after training with Piccolo, Gohan was finally able to regain his Ultimate form. During the Tournament of Power, Gohan served as team leader and managed to last until he was one of the remaining eight fighters. Gohan contributed to his team by battling Top, the two Namekian combatants from Universe 6, and a trio of robots from Universe 3. Gohan’s final act in the tournament was a team-up with Frieza against the super-fast Universe 11 warrior, Dyspo. In taking down Dyspo, Gohan proved his worth as an invaluable asset to the Universe 7 team.

Despite everything that Gohan was able accomplish in the Tournament of Power, the manga version of the story revealed that he was even stronger than he was shown to be. In the manga, Gohan goes up against Kefla, the fusion of the two Universe 6 Saiyans, Caulifla and Kale. Gohan uses his full power and pushes Kefla to her limit. Their fight shockingly results in a double knockout. Gohan’s fight with Kefla is easily the most impressive display of his power, considering that Kefla is one of the most powerful characters in the Dragon Ball franchise.

It’s important to note that Goku had to reach a whole new level just to beat Kefla in the anime. Even using his Kaio-ken technique while in his Super Saiyan Blue form wasn’t enough to handle Kefla. Goku had to achieve the incomplete version of Ultra Instinct before he could attain a victory over Kefla. Prior to the Tournament of Power, Gohan failed to beat Super Saiyan Blue Goku’s Kaio-ken technique. It appears that in the short time that passed since that fight, Gohan was able to get considerably stronger.

Gohan stalemating Kefla means that the character is way more powerful than he’s typically given credit for. In terms of his prowess as a fighter, Gohan may have been a bit of disappointment through most of Dragon Ball Super, but he’s clearly come a long way since the Golden Frieza Saga. Gohan finally redeemed himself in the Tournament of Power, and with the character currently at such a high level of power, it’s worth wondering what new heights he’ll reach in the next installment of the anime.
