Olivia Jade Giannulli is assuring fans that being a part of Dancing With The Stars season 30 was not her “redemption story.” Olivia grew up in the spotlight due to her mom Lori Loughlin’s fame from her role on the hit sitcom Full House. As she grew older, Olivia began a career for herself as a social media influencer. The family of four was under fire in 2019 for their involvement in the college admissions scandal.

The backfire from the scandal ultimately affected Olivia’s life on social media. Olivia took a hiatus from being in the spotlight before slowly making her return to social media a few months after the scandal. Many longtime Dancing With The Stars fans were shocked to learn that Olivia would be joining the cast for the milestone season of the show. While there was much debate as to whether or not Olivia deserved to be on the show, she shocked fans even more when she began to excel in the ballroom week after week.

Although Olivia did not make it to the finals this season, she is still very proud of how far she made it; however, that does not mean her time in the ballroom was used as a “redemption story.” In an interview with E! on Thursday, November 18, Olivia shut down claims that she was using the show as a form of “redemption” following her family’s recent scandal. Going into the dancing competition, Olivia was hopeful that fans would see a different side of her throughout her time on the show. Olivia said, “I don’t know where that [rumor] came from, because I never went on the show saying, ‘This is my redemption story.” Olivia admitted that this “narrative” may be what her time on the show ultimately turned into but it was never her intentions when joining the cast.

Olivia continued on to add that she was actually “hesitant” to agree to do the show at first. She was “terrified” because she was not aware of what her dancing abilities would be. She explained, “I was terrified. And then I said yes and then I think one thing just led to another and people are saying it’s my redemption story.” Once Olivia did sign onto doing the show, she had no intentions of making it very far. In fact, she believed she would be eliminated by the second week. Needless to say, she was highly impressed and shocked when she and her pro partner Maks Chmerkovskiy made it to week 8 before being eliminated.

While Olivia would have loved to win the Mirror Ball Trophy this season, she is happy and content with how far she made it in the competition. More importantly, Olivia learned a lot throughout the experience both about dancing and about herself. Not only did she gain a newfound sense of happiness and confidence, but she also has formed new friendships with her co-stars, especially her partner Maks. Both Olivia and Maks will most likely be in attendance during the live Dancing With The Stars finale Monday night.
