Elder Scrolls Lesser Daedra That Never Appeared In Skyrim

Although long-time players of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have likely encountered some Lesser Daedra during their adventures as the Dovahkiin, there are dozens more Lesser Daedra that never made their way into the game. Some of these creatures have appeared in several prior titles, and others can only be encountered once. Regardless, the Daedric Princes of The Elder Scrolls universe have many creatures in their service beyond those encountered in Skyrim.

Lesser Daedra are those whose powers fall below Daedric Princes of The Elder Scrolls’ Oblivion. Many of these creatures are associated with a Daedric Prince, either being created by one or acting in service to them, yet several Lesser Daedra remain unaligned from a single prince. The Lesser Daedra of The Elder Scrolls hold an incredibly diverse range of skills and abilities, and players may wish to revisit some older titles to see them in action.

Skyrim players may be familiar with Dremora, humanoid Daedra in service mostly to Mehrunes Dagon. Although relatively rare, they are encountered during some Daedric quests and through conjuration. However, there is a single type of Dremora not in Skyrim that previously appeared in Oblivion. The Dremora Kynmarcher were typically found as the ranking officer in a Dremora outpost or tower. They may have been left out of Skyrim because – aside from a few equipment differences and the ability to summon Flame Atronachs – they were not much different from the Dremora Kynreeve. Nonetheless, the Dremora Kynmarcher reappears in The Elder Scrolls Online.

The Lesser Daedra Players Didn’t Meet In Skyrim

The Dremora Kynmarcher is not the only humanoid Daedroth that appeared in Oblivion only to be absent in Skyrim. Many of the Daedra featured prominently in the Shivering Isles expansion for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion did not appear in the original release of Skyrim. For instance, The Golden Saints and their rivals the Dark Seducers were a common sight in the Shivering Isles expansion. Both groups of Daedra serve the Daedric Prince Sheogorath and compete for the affection of the God of Madness.

Although these Lesser Daedra did not appear in the original release of Skyrim, they are a main feature of the “Saints & Seducers” Creation for Skyrim Special Edtion which will be free following the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition. While players can now encounter Golden Saints and Dark Seducers, the other humanoid Daedra from Shivering Isles – Knights of Order – are still missing from Skyrim. The Knights of Order are thoughtless, crystalline Daedric soldiers in service to Jyggalag and, despite their absence from Skyrim, their hearts were added as an item in the Rare Curios Creation.

The Lesser Daedra from Shivering Isles have gotten some recognition in Skyrim, yet the Aurorans from the other Oblivion expansion, Knights of the Nine, remain wholly missing from the fifth title in The Elder Scrolls series. Created by the Daedric Prince Meridia, these armored Elder Scrolls knights have magical control over light and color. Wielding lightning-infused axes, they are formidable foes capable of summoning Daedric warhorses to aide them in battle.

The Most Powerful Lesser Daedra In The Elder Scrolls

Xivilai, some of the most powerful Lesser Daedra, are also missing. These muscular, grey-blue warriors serve Mehrunes Dagon along with Dremora, yet they abhor subordination and therefore do not fit well into the hierarchy-driven Dremora. However, their connection to Dremora remains strong nonetheless, as Molag Bal fused the two Lesser Daedra to create Xivkyn. They serve as the God of Schemes’ personal guard and led his occupation of the Imperial City in The Elder Scrolls Online. They too are absent from Skyrim.

While the majority of humanoid Daedra do not appear in Skyrim, several other types of Lesser Daedra also did not make the cut. For example, both of the prominent reptilian Daedra – Daedroth and Clannfear – are not in Skyrim. Daedroth are hulking crocodile-like beasts mostly associated with The Elder Scrolls’ Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal. Clannfear, on the other hand, more closely resemble a lizard and, although they seem to have only animal-like intelligence, they have tremendous speed and claws designed to pin prey down as they use their razor-sharp teeth to rip them to shreds.

Skyrim does include many of the Elemental Daedra with Flame, Frost, and Storm Atronachs all appearing along with Ash Guardians. However, many more Elemental Daedra have appeared in other Elder Scrolls titles. These include the Air Atronach, Shadow Atronach, Stone Atronach, as well as Flesh and Iron Atronachs. Granted, the last two are not always considered Daedra. Although the Flesh Atronach and Iron Atronach can be found in the realms of Elder Scrolls’ Oblivion alongside other Lesser Daedra, their lore reveals them to be created by mortals, not one of the Daedric Princes.

Flying Daedra Missing From Skyrim

There exist several Lesser Daedra capable of flight also missing from Skyrim. For instance, the Watcher from The Elder Scrolls Online floats and uses its many tentacle arms to attack. Additionally, the Daedric Titans – which Molag Bal crafted in an effort to make dragons of his own – are also flying Daedra which only appear in The Elder Scrolls Online. In this way, they are similar to Grevious Twilight, a brutish, winged Daedra that can teleport in a shroud of mist. The final ESO-only flying Daedroth is the Wraith-of-Crows, a creature composed of several smaller Daedric Crows. Other titles have seen Lesser Daedra make use of flight. The harpy-like Winged Twilight first appeared in Morrowind as an enemy to fight and the aforementioned Dark Seducers had bat wings in An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, yet their appearance and abilities were drastically changed in subsequent games.

Skyrim also failed to include many Daedra that appeared in one of the earliest titles in The Elder Scrolls series, An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire. These include the agile and pesky Scamps as well as the similar Hernes and Morphoid Daedra. Vermai also closely resemble Scamps, yet they can both take and deal out more damage. Battlespire also saw the first appearance of Spider Daedra. These spider-centaurs use poison spells in Battlespire, yet their counterparts from Oblivion utilize shock-based spells and summon spiderlings to fight alongside them. A few Lesser Daedra can only be found in Battlespire, as they were replaced by Daedra with similar aesthetics and abilities, these include the spell-focused Daedra Count and elemental Fire and Frost Daedra.

Along with the previously mentioned Winged Twilight, two Lesser Daedra which first appeared in Morrowind never made their way into Skyrim. Hunger, a Lesser Daedroth with a long tongue and claws, is one of these creatures. It uses these appendages, alongside some spellcasting, to make quick work of any foe. Morrowind also featured players’ first encounter with the huge and horned Ogrim. While this large monstrosity lacks intelligence, it deals large amounts of melee damage.

Lesser Daedra That Have Only Appeared In Elder Scrolls Online

There are also several yet-to-be-mentioned Daedra that have only appeared in The Elder Scrolls Online. While their lack of inclusion in Skyrim comes as no surprise considering ESO was released several years after Skyrim’s launch, they are mentioned here nonetheless. Many of these Lesser Daedra are humanoids found in service to a single Daedric Prince. Hircine, whose Savior’s Hide features in Skyrim, has the pale-skinned Huntsmen; Mehrunes Dagon gets the four-armed Ruinachs; Nocturnal makes use of the tall, red-eyed Shrikes; Clavicus Vile relies on the many classes of Skaafin; Mephala gains the services of the navy-skinned Spiderkith; and Namiira claims the wayward souls of Khajiit to transform them into Dro-m’Athra. The Daedric Princes of ESO may also contract the work of a Havocrel, a blind and giant Daedroth capable of wielding lava as a weapon.

There are a few more exclusive Lesser Daedra from The Elder Scrolls Online and they remain incredibly varied in their designs and abilities. Players may encounter Doppelgangers that take on the appearance of their enemies or the small, horned Bannekin that makes use of lightning-based attacks. ESO also includes the large, spikey, and spider-like Hoarvor Daedra that spews bile at players to deal poison damage. This game also features Harvesters, powerful, serpentine Daedra that snare players and drain their health. Lesser Daedra can even be found in the sewers of Elder Scrolls’ Imperial City, where players can encounter Daedric beetles called Fiendroths and Daedrats, a Daedric rodent.

There is a long list of Lesser Daedra that never appeared in Skryim and, while the game hosts a huge variety of enemies to face, players may long for a larger pool of Daedric foes. Hopefully, The Elder Scrolls 6 will re-introduce some of those that were absent from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and maybe it will even show off some new ones.
