This was definitely Emma Stone’s first leading role that definitely made waves in the movie industry. This comedy romance follows Olive, a high school student who is plagued by sexual rumors – after she tries to help some guys get a good reputation.

She adorns the scarlet letter – and must face the difference in her own reputation. Emma Stone stars alongside Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, Lisa Kudrow, and Aly Michalka. This is certainly her most quirky movie to date.

9 Jules – Superbad (2007)

7 Hannah – Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

This romantic comedy follows a middle-aged man in the throws of divorce (Steve Carell), who finds a young womanizer (Ryan Gosling) to help him change his look.

With Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Emma Stone, this rom-com has unexpected twists, hilarious moments, cringy overlapped plots, and a stellar cast. Plus – it’s the birth of the iconic Gosling and Stone duo.

6 Bille Jean King – Battle Of The Sexes (2017)

This biography comedy might be the most underrated on the list. Based on the true story of Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, this movie follows a 1973 tennis match, between a world champ and a serial hustler.

Starring alongside Steve Carell, both of these actors bring quirky and unique characters to life. Nominated for two Golden Globes, this hidden gem should be binged immediately.

5 Abigail – The Favourite (2018)

This biography comedy drama is also an Oscar-winning film. Taking place in 18th Century England, a frail Queen (Olivia Colman) is aided by her friend, Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz), whose lives are upended by a new and loyal servant (Emma Stone).

This trio is absolutely perfect, and create a flick full of humor, deception, greed, and lust. This movie has a deep message, but each character is full of quirks.

4 Mia – La La Land (2016)

Directed by the brilliant Damien Chazelle, this is the flick where Stone took home her Oscar. Starring alongside Ryan Gosling, these two play a pianist and an actress – both trying to navigate love and success in Los Angeles.

This comedy drama has music and dance, quirky humor, and a devastating love story. These two are beautiful together, and this flick is a stunning watch.

3 Gwen Stacy – The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

This Marvel superhero is certainly infamous. In this installment, Andrew Garfield takes the lead, with Emma Stone as his co-star. Playing Gwen Stacy, Emma Stone become iconic in this role – and slayed this intelligent and brave character.

With a heartfelt love story, action, and mystery, this superhero flick is certainly a popular binge. While it’s a serious role, it still has it’s light-hearted humor.

2 Grace Faraday – Gangster Squad (2013)

This action drama takes place in 1950s Los Angeles, and follows a team of cops who set out to undermine a group of gangsters and their mobster boss – all in an attempt to restore peace to the city.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, this flick stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone, and more. Stone is the flame of the mobster, but it swooned by, of course, Gosling’s cop character. This drama is a must-see.

1 Skeeter Phelan – The Help (2011)

This Oscar-winning flick follows an author during the civil rights movement in the 1960s, who sets out to write a book of African American maids – and their perspective of the white families they work for.

Emma Stone takes the lead, and is joined by Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jessica Chastain, Allison Janney, and Octavia Spencer. This wholesome and deep drama certainly tilts towards serious.
