Endgame & Hawkeye Producer Teases New Owner Of Avengers Tower

Trinh Tran, executive producer for Avengers: Endgame and the upcoming Hawkeye Disney+ series, has teased a potential new owner for Avengers Tower. First featured in 2012’s The Avengers, the Manhattan high-rise formerly known as Stark Tower became a centerpiece for the Battle of New York and the site of the superhero team’s final showdown with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. Following the events of the first Avengers film, by the time of Phase 2’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the building had been rebranded as Avengers Tower and became the temporary home of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes until they later moved to a new facility in upstate New York.

Despite the Avengers’ move, however, the building that was once the crown jewel in Tony Stark’s business empire has continued to play a significant role throughout later films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, audiences learned that the building had been sold to a new buyer, and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker stepped in to prevent Michael Keaton’s Vulture from stealing the Stark technology being moved from the building. Since then, the building has briefly appeared again in both Avengers: Infinity War and during the conclusion of Spider-Man: Far from Home.

Ever since Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel fans have been busy speculating exactly who stepped in to purchase the iconic building, with many big names from Marvel comic lore being proposed as likely owners. Now, Tran has thrown more fuel on the fire, after being asked by Cinemablend who the new building owner may be. While she didn’t let any explicit information out of the bag, the producer did say she was curious to “hear any and all [theories].” Check out her complete comments below:

“Do you have any ideas, do you have answers? Do you want to speculate? I’d love to hear any and all [theories], and we’ll see if it sort of fits into where I think it can be headed towards.”

Given Marvel’s penchant for misdirection and keeping their plot points tightly under wraps, Tran’s evasive answer probably comes as little surprise for MCU fans desperate to know which Marvel character may have purchased the building. Over the years, fans have linked it with everyone from Spider-Man villain Norman Osborn/Green Goblin through to the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards. In the comics, even a variant of Nathaniel Richards (aka Kang the Conqueror) purchased the building under the name of Mister Gryphon for his own business empire, Qeng Enterprises.

Considering that Marvel Studios have continued to tease the building’s importance throughout its films, it is likely that whoever the new owner is will eventually be revealed to have a major impact on the continuing future of the MCU. Whether or not Avengers Tower ends up becoming the Baxter Building or the corporate headquarters of Oscorp remains to be seen, and Tran and the other folks at Marvel certainly seem intent on not giving too much away. In the meantime, fans will undoubtedly be keeping their eyes peeled to see whether or not they can spot a new name on the building’s façade during Hawkeye when it hits Disney+ later this month.
