Eternals Villain Druig Combines the XMens Greatest Powers

With the Eternals coming to the MCU, and their villain Druig along with them, fans may notice his powers bear more than a small similarity to many of the most powerful X-Men. As an Eternal, Druig has the power to manipulate energy and matter, making him one of the Marvel Universe’s deadliest threats.

Created by Jack Kirby, Druig can shoot energy beams out of his eyes like Cyclops, teleport like Nightcrawler, fly like Storm, and he even uses telepathic manipulation like Jean Grey. With powers like these, he is a match for all 100 of the Eternals, although they also have similar power sets. Unlike Druig however, they tend to favor certain powers. Druig on the other hand enjoys a bit of everything. Not only is Druig a great match for the Eternals, he also has great source material to pull from. In the past, he has been a Russian KGB agent, a deputy Prime Minister, and the head of an army. He is not shy about using his powers to get exactly what he wants. In fact, he once manipulated a government head into killing himself so that he could take control of a nation. He will not stop at anything to achieve his goals.

There is almost nothing Druig cannot do because he can literally manipulate matter and energy. One would think he is a big fan of the X-Men because of how often he uses powers like theirs. As mentioned above, he enjoys manifesting his powers in the form of eye beans, teleportation, telepathic manipulation, and flying while shooting energy beams from his hands. He is not a villain to be taken lightly and seeing him in the MCU as he takes on the Eternals team is sure to be entertaining.

As if all of those powers listed aren’t enough, the latest Eternals comic book series has confirmed that he can also resurrect upon death (similar to Wolverine’s healing power). He’s literally immortal. Every time he is knocked down, he rises again.

In the MCU Druig will be played by Barry Keoghan and while it is unclear what his role will be, comic readers know it won’t be good. As a KGB agent, Druig realized just how much he enjoys torturing others, and while he is the heroic Ikaris’ cousin, he can’t be trusted. He has a penchant for power and will likely be doing whatever he can to obtain it when audiences see him in the movie. Think Loki — friendly with his family while constantly manipulating and planning behind the scenes. With the powers of the greatest X-Men at his disposal, who knows if the Eternals have any hope of stopping Druig.
