Warning: Contains SPOILERS for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 6, “One World, One People.”

The Falcon & the Winter Soldier episode 6 brought the series to an explosive conclusion, with a lot of the Easter eggs becoming explicit story points. Sam Wilson was given the shield of Captain America in the final scenes of Avengers: Endgame, but Falcon & Winter Soldier was the story of how he came to accept that mantle. At the end of episode 5, Sam was given a package from Wakanda – and it wasn’t hard to guess that it contained new wings and a new suit. The MCU’s new Captain America has officially taken flight.

Where WandaVision was something of a mystery, with countless red herrings, Falcon & Winter Soldier played things straight. It introduced a number of new comic book characters into the MCU, modified Captain America: Civil War’s Baron Zemo to make him a whole lot more comic book accurate, and welcomed viewers to the corrupt fictional nation of Madripoor.

The final episode draws together all the loose plot threads, while setting up the future of the MCU like all the best Marvel Studios productions. Here are all the Easter eggs spotted in Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 6, ranging from the subtle to the explicit.

The New Captain America Takes Flight

Every Falcon & Winter Soldier Easter Egg In Episode 6

The highlight of Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 6 is undoubtedly Sam Wilson taking flight as the new Captain America. The costume is heavily based on the one he wore when he suited up as Captain America in the comics, although the gloves have been replaced with gauntlets and the logo on the chest has been simplified a little to make it cleaner and more effective. The belt follows the same pattern, but isn’t as eye-catching as in the comics, which was a design element that always seemed a little odd. Meanwhile, the new Falcon wings may be Wakandan tech, but they follow the same pattern as the traditional MCU Falcon wings – they stretch out giving Sam an impressive wingspan, in contrast with the comic book version which are underarm.

Note that Wakandan tech appears to have boosted Sam Wilson significantly. His visor has been improved with sensor technology that allows him to track heat trails from fleeing enemies, and his new Redwing has been supplemented with additional drones of some kind. The gauntlets appears to be practical, helping cushion his arm from the kinetic impact of catching a heavy object moving at a high velocity, and it looks as though those wings may actually be made of Vibranium given the impacts they take in episode 6.

Bucky’s Dismount

Sam Wilson may not be a super-soldier, but he’s partnered with one – Bucky Barnes, who joins battle with the Flag-Smashers in an impressive scene where he boosts his own velocity using his motorbike. This move is actually a familiar one in the MCU, reminiscent of a similar scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier in which Steve Rogers refused to let a SHIELD Quinjet slow him down.

The MCU’s Power Broker Revealed

Every Falcon & Winter Soldier Easter Egg In Episode 6

In the comics, Power Broker, Inc. was an organization dedicated to creating superheroes, an alliance between ruthless businessman Curtiss Jackson and scientist Karlin Malus. The MCU has reinvented the concept, turning the Power Broker into a shadowy figure who runs a vast criminal empire out of Madripoor – and, surprising nobody, Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 6 confirms the Power Broker is none other than Sharon Carter. Apparently the experience of being branded an outlaw after Captain America: Civil War twisted Sharon’s character, and she’s now trying to exert control over the world that hurt her. The series hasn’t exactly been subtle in terms of setting this up, but Sam and Bucky are oblivious.

Interestingly, this change has one major positive impact. The relationship between the MCU and the old Marvel Television shows has always been a difficult one, but by changing the Power Broker Falcon & Winter Soldier avoids clashing with Jessica Jones season 2. That introduced Marvel Television’s version of Karlin Malus as the one responsible for giving Jessica her powers.

The Raft

The government intend to send the captive Flag-Smashers to the Raft, a dedicated prison designed for superhumans who were in breach of the Sokovia Accords. This prison is lifted straight from the comics, where it was essentially the superhero equivalent of Guantanamo Bay, but in the MCU the Raft is situated in international waters. This means no government has legal jurisdiction, and may well mean human rights do not apply; in Captain America: Civil War, Steve Rogers’ team of Avengers were imprisoned there with no hint of due process or promise of a future trial. It’s easy to imagine a scenario where the Raft became a center for experimentation on imprisoned super-soldiers, just as the U.S. government experimented on Isaiah Bradley while he was their prisoner.

It’s currently unclear just who is held in the Raft right now, but one inmate – transported there by the Dora Milaje after Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 5 – is Baron Zemo. He clearly left orders to his butler to finish his mission against the Flag-Smashers before he was captured by Bucky, given the terrorists don’t make it to the Raft.

The Friendship Between Sam & Bucky

Sam and Bucky have saved the day, and as they walk away Bucky places his arm on Sam’s back in a demonstration of friendship. It’s a touching moment, and the shot is framed to evoke memories of Steve and Bucky in Captain America: Civil War, where Steve offered comfort and support in exactly the same gesture as the two prepared to break into the Siberian Winter Soldier complex. The symbolism is powerful, because Bucky knows this isn’t the end of Sam’s battle; it’s the beginning. And he’ll be there for his friend.

John Walker Becomes The US Agent

Every Falcon & Winter Soldier Easter Egg In Episode 6

John Walker essentially redeems himself in Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 6, because given a choice between taking down Karli Morgenthau and rescuing people who were about to die he (eventually) chooses the latter. By the end of the episode, he’s decided to take the Contessa up on her offer of reinventing himself, and he’s wearing an even darker version of his Captain America costume. The Contessa dubs him the US Agent. Walker has actually followed a far less painful process of becoming the US Agent than he did in the comics, where he became so controversial the U.S. government faked his assassination before turning him into the US Agent.

Return to the Smithsonian Institution Captain America Exhibit

Every Falcon & Winter Soldier Easter Egg In Episode 6

Sam Wilson takes Isaiah Bradley and his grandson, Elijah, to the Captain America exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution. They walk through exactly the same part of the exhibit viewers saw in Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 1 – probably indicating the limits of the set Marvel constructed. One extra detail is visible, a shattered Avengers logo reminiscent of the one Marvel used in marketing for Avengers: Endgame. In-universe, it’s likely this was in reference to the Avengers’ breaking up over the Sokovia Accords.

Isaiah Bradley Is Finally Acknowledged

Sam reveals there’s a new section to the Smithsonian Institution exhibit, one dedicated to the super-soldier experiments conducted in the 1950s and to the heroism of Isaiah Bradley; it’s accompanied with photographs of the 332d Expeditionary Operations Group. There’s a plinth summing up Isaiah’s story:

“Isaiah Bradley is an American hero whose name went unknown for too long.

Isaiah was one of a dozen African-American soldiers who were recruited against their will and without their consent for participation in human testing in pursuit of the super soldier serum. Most did not survive. The few who lived through through testing were sent on secret missions during the Korean War. During the conflict, against all odds, Isaiah Bradley rescued his fellow soldiers and 28 other POWs from behind enemy lines.

Ever fearful of the ramifications of a black super soldier, some individuals in the government tried to erase Isaiah’s story from history. His family was given a falsified death certificate, and for decades es the truth of his unflinching bravery was buried.”

The Inspiration of Two New Heroes

Every Falcon & Winter Soldier Easter Egg In Episode 6

Steve Rogers may have been a super-soldier, but his true power lay in his ability to inspire others. Sam’s actions in Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 6 confirm he’s right as the new Captain America, as his speech and subsequent actions both inspire changes in the world around him; a speech from Sam Wilson accomplishes more to stop the forced resettlement program than all Karli Morgenthau’s terrorist acts ever did. What’s more, he’s inspired two potential new superheroes in the MCU as well; when he gives his speech we see a brief glimpse of his friend Joaquin Torres (the second Falcon in the comics) listening, while Elijah Bradley is sure to soon suit up as Patriot of the Young Avengers.

A Dark “Agent Carter”

The new Captain America clearly has a great deal of influence, and Sam is able to arrange a full pardon for Sharon Carter, who resumes working for the CIA; her great-aunt Peggy is referenced during the key scene, as the U.S. government recognizes the Carter family’s history of heroism and service. Unfortunately Sharon is set to betray Peggy Carter’s legacy, because she’s planning to take advantage of her restored access to CIA databases to sell secrets and experimental weapons to the highest bidders. Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 6’s post-credits scene is certainly setup, but it remains to be seen whether it will pay off in season 2 or in Armor Wars.
