Every GTA 5 Radio Station Ranked Worst To Best

Radio stations have always played a big part in Grand Theft Auto games, allowing players to set the mood for their driving experience. With stations covering pretty much any genre, and hilarious advertisements filling in the blanks between songs, the radio stations have always been a nice touch in GTA games.

Grand Theft Auto 5 possibly has the best variety of radio stations for players to choose from. There are 21 different stations featured in GTA 5, a slight improvement from the 19 featured in the base version of Grand Theft Auto 4, which still included a wider selection than its predecessors. In GTA 5, players can switch between stations by pulling up the radio station wheel, mimicking a dial on a classic stereo system.

While personal preference ultimately will decide what station an individual players ends up listening to the most, not all of GTA 5’s radio stations are made equally. Some are better than others. Below is a ranking of all the radio stations, starting from worst and ending with the very best.

GTA 5 Radio Stations, From Worst To Best

Every GTA 5 Radio Station Ranked Worst To Best

Blaine County Radio – This station can only be accessed when in Blaine County, and due to the limited nature of its content, it’s one of the least-enticing radio stations.

WCTR – This public talk radio plays three separate programs – Chakra Attack, Chattersphere, and The Fernando Show – which can be entertaining. But for players looking for music to complement their drive, this isn’t the right channel for the job.

WorldWide FM – Hosted by DJ and producer Gilles Peterson, this station provides players with relaxing background music. While this can be calming in the right context, when players get behind the wheel in GTA, they’re raring to go at top speeds, which is why this radio station is one of the least popular of all the options.

The Blue Ark FM – This station, whose host includes Lee “Scratch” Perry, a world-renowned Jamaican producer and dubmaster, is a hit with reggae fans. But such an underappreciated genre means this station typically appeals to only a small subset of GTA players who are familiar with the artists.

Space 103.2 – Similarly, this radio station is largely appreciated by true funk fans. Hosted by American musician William Early “Bootsy” Collins, it features ‘80s hits from Eddie Murphy, Stevie Wonder, and D Train. This station is well loved by a few but doesn’t appeal to a wide enough range of players.

East Los FM 106.2 – This is one of the only radio stations in Grand Theft Auto 5 that specializes in Latin music but, unfortunately, it fails to do the genre justice. Players have complained the choice of songs — which includes hits from Don Cheto, Jessy Bulbo, and She’s a Tease — are repetitive and annoying, thereby not providing for the satisfying driving experience players hope for. With so many incredible Latin artists out there, there’s no reason Rockstar couldn’t have introduced a more diverse track list.

The Lowdown – American actress Pamela “Pam” Grier, known for starring in a string of ‘70s action movies, hosts the Lowdown, which specializes in soul music. It features hits from Aaron Neville, Marlena Shaw, and Smokey Robinson. While the music is catchy and good for a drive, it feels somewhat bland compared to the variety found elsewhere.

Vinewood Boulevard Radio – Nate Williams and Stephen Pope, from the band Wavves, are the voices behind this radio station, which predominantly plays modern and alternative rock. The tracklist could’ve been improved, but it’s certainly not horrible, with hits from Moon Duo, The Black Angels, and Shark? making the cut.

Channel X – Even for players not interested in punk, there’s no denying how gratifying it is driving down the highway listening to a hardcore, rock-out song. Channel X, hosted by Black Flag’s Keith Morris, features music from The Weirdos, Youth Brigade, and Circle Jerks. But considering the station’s logo is reminiscent of the Sex Pistols’ famous album, they should’ve included more music from the punk bands that started the movement, like the Pistols or the Ramones, on this Grand Theft Auto 5 radio station.

Radio Mirror Park – This radio station only plays independent (indie) music, which incorporates genres like new wave and synthpop. It can be a refreshing change of pace for drivers who want something a bit more mellow but don’t necessarily need to know the song or band beforehand. Familiar artists include Yeasayer, Miami Horror, and Twin Shadow, who also hosts the station.

Soulwax FM – Belgian music group Soulwax hosts this station, hence its name, and it specializes mainly in techno music. The remixes are good but not as good as FlyLo FM, however, which his why Soulwax gets a slightly lower rating. Grand Theft Auto 5 players will find music from the likes of FKCLUB, Fatal Error, and Palmbomen played on this station, with Soulwax giving their own spin on certain songs.

The Lab – This station is hosted by The Alchemist and Oh No. It specializes in hip-hop, electronic, and rock, featuring music from Phantogram, Wavves, and Little Dragon. It doesn’t boast nearly as many songs as other additions on this list, and with many of the artist names being unknown to players who aren’t familiar with the genre, it’s not the best of the best when it comes to video game radio stations, but it’s not bad either.

Rebel Radio – Rebel Radio plays a ton of classic country hits, with artists like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson making the cut. It’s also hosted by The Dancing Outlaw, making it the perfect station to listen to why driving through Blaine County. The only problem? Unless the player is a fan of country music, that’s really the only fitting time when the station can and should be played.

Radio Los Santos – This station sticks to contemporary rap and R&B music, and while it’s got an impressive selection, it’s not the very best station to cover this genre. Players will find everything from Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, Macklemore, and Nipsey Hussle played on this station, which happens to be hosted by DJ Big Boy.

It’s hosted by Danny Brown and Skepta, and players can expect music from DaBaby, Travis Scott, Pop Smoke, and Alkaline.

FlyLo FM – This is the perfect station for cruising down the highway at top speed. LA’s Flying Lotus runs this station and plays many of his own hits in the process. Other artists featured on the station include Captain Murphy, Aphex Twin, Tyler the Creator, and Outkast, meaning there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

Los Santos Underground Radio – This station also provides a variety of tantalizing remixes, with hits from Solomun, Alex Metric, Dubfire, and Floorplan making the cut. It’s hosted by an unnamed host, adding to the mystery and attraction surrounding this Grand Theft Auto 5 radio station.

Non-Stop Pop 100. 7 FM – This Grand Theft Auto 5 station earns a top spot simply because it’s likely the station with the most recognizable artists. As its name suggests, this station specializes in modern pop music and his hosted by model Cara Delevingne. But more than just playing catchy songs, this station plays songs that specifically embodies L.A.’s lavish attitude, with Fergie’s “Glamorous,” Enrique Iglesias’ “I Like It,” and Britney Spears’ “Gimme More.” Other artists include Rihanna, All Saints, and Kelly Rowland.

Los Santos Rock Radio – Hosted by Kenny Loggins and specializing in classic rock, this radio station may have some of the best hits in Grand Theft Auto 5. It features music from Queen, Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, and Elton John, meaning there are at least a few recognizable names on the list. Since there’s something for everyone, this radio station earns a high-ranking spot.

Blonded Los Santos 97.8 FM – This station may play the widest range of genres, incorporating rock, rap, hip-hip, and soul music, just to name a few. It features artists like Jay-Z, Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Migos, and Frank Ocean, who also happens to host the station. Its sheer variety helps earn it a top spot.

West Coast Classics – This is another station that includes music from many familiar artists, including Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. It specializes in ‘80s and ‘90s rap, and considering the genre is largely inspired by the West Coast, it feels more than fitting to listen to this station while cruising through the streets of Los Santos, GTA’s fictional L.A.

Grand Theft Auto 5 offers players a wide selection when it comes to radio stations, and though some stations have been better received by players than others, for the most part, it all boils down to personal preference.
