Every Mario Golf: Super Rush Character Confirmed So Far

Mario Golf: Super Rush is launching on Nintendo Switch this June, and here are all of the playable characters that appeared in the reveal trailer.

One of the most exciting parts of a Mario sports game is the roster, as Nintendo usually includes characters from the franchise that normally wouldn’t be playable. With the recent reveal of Mario Golf: Super Rush, excitement is already building to see which characters will make the cut this time. Of course, the most iconic characters from the Mario universe are sure to make an appearance in the upcoming Switch game, and a few of them have already been shown in Mario Golf: Super Rush’s first trailer.

Mario Golf: Super Rush is the sixth Mario Golf title since 1999. Needless to say, Mario sports games have evolved quite a bit over the past 22 years, and the list of Mario characters has grown substantially since his the brothers’ debut in the ’80s. Though not part of the official Mario Golf series, 1991’s NES Open Tournament Golf, for example, featured just two playable characters: Mario and Luigi. The latest Mario Golf game, Mario Golf: World Tour for the 3DS, featured 21 playable characters and a larger cast of NPCs.

In previous Mario Golf games, Mario and friends wore clothing identical to what they wear in every other title. However, their wardrobes in Mario Golf: Super Rush have changed to be a bit more suitable for the golf course. While the full roster of playable characters has yet to be revealed, the trailer for Mario Golf: Super Rush gives a glimpse of who players might be able to main when the game launches on June 25.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Mario

Surprise, surprise: Mario is a playable character in the golf game titled after himself. He’s appeared in every Mario game since 1987, so his inclusion here only makes sense.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Yoshi

Aside from Yoshi’s own, few and far-between solo projects, it’s a given that Mario’s dino companion will be in any Mario sports game. His special moves are egg-themed, as always.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Waluigi

While Waluigi did appear in the last Mario Golf game, it’s still a relief to see him in the trailer. Despite Nintendo’s reluctance to include Waluigi in Super Smash Bros., he made it into another Mario sports title.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Daisy

Peach’s best friend, Daisy, is the fourth character to appear in the trailer, and she is yet another that follows Mario in every recent sports game. Despite appearing twice in the trailer, not much of her golf prowess is shown.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Bowser

It’s nice to know that, when they aren’t fighting over Princess Peach, Bowser and Mario are duking it out on the green. They may not actually be throwing fists or hats at one another, but the Speed Golf mode appears to be a good outlet for their competitive aggression.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Luigi

After 22 years, Luigi continues to make an appearance in the Mario Golf games. He’s back and cooler than ever, with the trailer showing off Luigi using an Ice Flower.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Peach

Peach’s inclusion is another given, seeing as she has been a playable character for the majority of Mario sports games. The Mario Golf: Super Rush trailer shows Princess Peach prancing around the golf course with one of her special abilities.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Donkey Kong

In case viewers missed it, Donkey Kong appears as a muscular blur in the Super Rush trailer. Peach jumps past him with her power-up, leaving the king of the jungle in her dust.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Mii

Just like Mario Golf: World Tour, players will be able to play as one of their custom Mii characters in Super Rush. This will be the main character in Story Mode, as well as a playable character against friends.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Toad

Another familiar face from the last Mario Golf game, Toad will once again be teeing off in Mario Golf: Super Rush. He was shown during one of the Story Mode clips, next to a pink Yoshi.

Mario Golf: Super Rush Characters – Wario

Finally comes the beautiful face who charmed the internet when he was revealed: Wario. The greedy anti-hero is sporting an all-new outfit that far outshines any other character revealed during the Super Rush trailer.

Eleven characters were shown during the Mario Golf: Super Rush reveal trailer, and there are likely still more to come. Mario Golf: World Tour had double the number of characters shown so far, including Toadette, Rosalina, and Bowser Jr. – all fan-favorite characters from the Mario franchise. Only time will tell who actually makes the cut.
