Samus Aran, bounty hunter renowned throughout the galaxy, is finally returning in the long-awaited Metroid Dread, and every confirmed enemy so far reveals a great deal about its bestiary. This fifth entry in the mainline Metroid series comes nearly two decades after its predecessor, Metroid Fusion, and has had an aggressive marketing campaign ever since it was revealed. This latest adventure sends Samus to a planet called ZDR, where she will encounter a wide variety of enemies.
Rumors have reached the Galactic Federation that the dangerous X Parasite, thought to be driven into extinction at the end of Fusion, survives on ZDR. The Federation dispatched its Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifiers to investigate the X sightings, but the robots have since gone dark. Looking to follow up on her exploits from Fusion, Samus travels to ZDR to hopefully rid the galaxy of X once and for all.
Nintendo has detailed some of Metroid Dread’s locations in its latest Metroid Dread Report, the eighth volume subtitled Surveying Planet ZDR. This report includes some details on the enemies Samus will encounter on the planet, robots and creatures alike. Below is a list of every enemy confirmed for Metroid Dread along with a short description, including bosses and mini-bosses shown in previous trailers and detailed in earlier promotional material.
