Every PS5 Game In The Gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live Show

Sony’s PlayStation 5 played a significant role in the Gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live showcase, with Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart serving as its closing act. Several other PS5 games saw new gameplay footage or trailers revealed during the event, including a few other PlayStation 5 exclusives.

The two-hour Gamescom livestream included mostly news updates about previously announced and already released games. Fans got their first look at Fall Guys Season 2, for example, which features medieval-themed costumes and rounds. Other reveals included details on the multiple endings and player choices of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s campaign, the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion release date, and more.

While most of the more than 36 games at Gamescom ONL 2020 are coming to a PlayStation platform, only a select few will launch on the next-gen PS5. Sony’s new console is targeting a holiday 2020 release, and a recent PS5 Best Buy price leak suggests it and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X will cost at least $500 USD. Not all of the Gamescom PS5 games will come out at the time of the console’s launch, but it’s at least confirmed Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will arrive in the PS5’s “launch window.”

Which Gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live Games Are Coming To PS5

A total of 13 games from the Gamescom showcase and pre-show are headed to PlayStation 5. Bolded game titles indicate PlayStation-exclusive games, while the rest are also coming to Xbox or PC platforms. Follow the linked text to see trailers and more about those specific games.

Presumably, Bioware’s untitled, fourth Dragon Age game will also make its way to PS5, as it appears to be early in development and will likely not release for quite some time. It’s been nearly six years since Dragon Age: Inquisition, and the failure of Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda leaves Dragon Age’s future uncertain. The Gamescom trailer teased the return of characters like Inquisition’s Solas, so it appears the game will be a direct follow-up to Inquisition’s story, rather than being a spin-off like Andromeda. It’s a small distinction, but one that could perhaps spell a more successful game launch than BioWare’s recent releases.
