Every Season Of American Horror Story Evan Peters Tate Has Appeared In

Here’s every season of American Horror Story that Evan Peters’ Tate Langdon has appeared in. While Ryan Murphy has many hit shows to his name like Glee or Nip/Tuck, he’s really built up his anthology American Horror Story as a brand over the last decade. The original season – which was later dubbed Murder House – following a troubled family moving into a haunted house, and set up the show’s formula of shock twists and lots of gore served with style.

The anthology format has allowed it to switch up genres constantly, with season 9’s 1984, for instance, being a loving homage to retro slasher movies like Sleepaway Camp. American Horror Story has also given actors like Jessica Lange, Emma Roberts or Evans Peters the chance to play many different kinds of roles. Murphy has launched a couple of spinoffs of the series too, with American Crime Story exploring real-life crime stories, with season 3’s Impeachment dealing with the Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal.

2021 also saw the arrival of American Horror Stories, which instead of focusing on one storyline for a whole season, features a new plot for (nearly) every episode. It is somewhat fitting the first two episodes – titled “Rubber(wo)Man” Parts One and Two – revisit the setting of the show’s very first season. American Horror Story’s “Murder House” was home to the ghost of Evan Peters’ Tate, a teenager who was killed by police after committing a mass shooting at his school. He would also be responsible for many vile acts even as a spirit, including committing murders while dressed in a rubber suit and sexually assaulting Connie Britton’s Vivien.

Murder House wasn’t the only series to feature Tate, however. American Horror Story season 8 Apocalypse featured Michael, the offspring of Tate and Vivian, who acted as the main villain in a world devastated by nuclear strikes. This series also featured a crossover with both season 3’s Coven and season 1’s Murder House, which catches up with the ghosts still trapped in the titular house, including Tate, who is trying to reconcile with lost love and fellow ghost Violet (Taissa Farmiga). This season also somewhat redeemed his actions, revealing the Devil himself used Tate as a conduit to lead to Michael’s creation.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse gave Tate and Violet a happy ending – until that timeline was later erased. That was the last time, to date, Evan Peters played Tate, but it wasn’t the character’s final appearance. Eagle-eyed fans spotted Tate in his signature striped green jumper out of focus in the background of one scene during “Rubber(wo)Man Part One.” This features a teenager named Scarlett finding Tate’s rubber man outfit and trying it on, leading to a moment early in the episode where he watches her from a bedroom door, confirming he’s still trapped in the house.
