Every Star Wars Character Who Could Return In Book Of Boba Fett

Disney’s Book of Boba Fett could see the return of numerous Star Wars characters from other corners of the universe, in addition to bringing back Boba Fett and Fennec Shand. Set soon after the ending of The Mandalorian season 2, The Book of Boba Fett is perfectly positioned in the Star Wars timeline to feature familiar faces from the New Republic era, the original trilogy, and even the Clone Wars.

Throughout his life, Boba Fett has crossed paths with numerous other key Star Wars characters. He was present at the Battle of Geonosis, where he saw his father Jango Fett killed by Jedi Master Mace Windu. As a young outlaw, he worked with and against various underworld figures, including Cad Bane and famed bounty hunter Aurra Sing. Later on, he worked with Darth Vader and the Empire to capture Han Solo and deliver him to Jabba the Hutt. Boba Fett presumably died in a sarlacc pit on Tatooine after battling Luke Skywalker and his friends, but it was revealed in The Mandalorian season 2 that he actually managed to survive.

All that is to say that there are lots of reasons for many different Star Wars characters to return in The Book of Boba Fett. As Fett and Fennec attempt to rebuild Jabba’s old galactic criminal empire and claim for themselves, they could run into plenty of old allies and enemies. Here are some of the most likely Star Wars characters to return in The Book of Boba Fett, and what their presence would mean for the show.

Cad Bane

Easily one of the most popular characters introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Cad bane would make a lot of sense as a cameo in The Book of Boba Fett. The two bounty hunters have had run-ins in the past, with one planned but unproduced episode of The Clone Wars even showing a duel between them. Bane has never been given a canonical death, which means he could easily still be active during the events of The Mandalorian. Plus, as an older member of the Star Wars underworld, he could give an interesting perspective on the shifting balance of power in the galaxy. Boba Fett and Cad Bane have never met in live action, but The Book of Boba Fett might be the perfect venue to finally make that happen.

Din Djarin

While it’s unlikely that Din Djarin would appear in a Mandalorian spinoff before season 3 premieres, it’s possible that he could show up in The Book of Boba Fett. Din is still a bounty hunter, after all, which means he’d be directly affected by Fett and Fennec’s takeover of Jabba’s palace and empire. He and Boba also developed a significant bond of comradeship in The Mandalorian season 2, which could make Din one of the few people Fett actually trusts. If Din Djarin were to appear in The Book of Boba Fett, it would probably be to set up a storyline for The Mandalorian season 3.

Bo-Katan Kryze

Every Star Wars Character Who Could Return In Book Of Boba Fett

Another Mandalorian character ripe for a return in The Book of Boba Fett is Mandalore-aspirant Bo-Katan Kryze. At the end of The Mandalorian season 2, Bo-Katan failed to win possession of the coveted Darksaber, leaving her path to the throne of Mandalore unclear. It’s implied that she might try to fight Din Djarin to win the weapon back, but no matter what her next plan is, she might need some powerful friends to get it done. Bo-Katan doesn’t seem to trust Boba Fett since he is a clone, but he has unquestionable blood ties to the Mandalorian people, and he’ll soon be one of the most powerful people in the entire galaxy. That could be enough for Bo-Katan to ask Boba Fett for a favor or two as she plots her reconquest of Mandalore the planet.

Lando Calrissian

Every Star Wars Character Who Could Return In Book Of Boba Fett

After helping to defeat Emperor Palpatine’s imperial regime in Return of the Jedi, Lando Calrissian worked in various capacities in the New Republic and as head of his own droid manufacturing company. None of that explicitly sets Lando up for a return in The Book of Boba Fett, but because of his troubled history with the bounty hunter, he could easily be brought into the story. Lando might suddenly have the desire to take vengeance on the bounty hunter after learning Boba Fett escaped the sarlacc pit, and with Boba rebuilding a massive criminal empire in the Star Wars underworld, it’s unlikely that his survival will remain much of a secret. The biggest hindrance to a Lando cameo in The Book of Boba Fett is, of course, casting. Donald Glover played a young Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story, but his schedule might not allow for a return to the franchise, and it seems unlikely that Disney would cast a third star to play the character.

Han Solo

Like Lando, an appearance from Han Solo in The Book of Boba Fett seems highly unlikely due to casting considerations. Many people praised Alden Ehrenreich’s performance as Han in Solo, but the cancellation of the planned sequels makes a reprisal from the actor seem unlikely. Still, there’s undeniable potential in the idea of Han and Boba Fett coming face to face once more, especially given all the bounty hunter has been through since the end of Return of the Jedi.

Bossk

Boba Fett’s corner of the Star Wars universe is filled with other bounty hunters and underworld figures, and out of all of them, Bossk seems like the best bet to make a return. The Trandoshan bounty hunter has never died in canon, but he was present at Jabba’s palace with Fett in the days leading up to Jabba’s death. As one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, he’d also be closely tied to the various crime syndicates Boba Fett and Fennec Shand meet with in the Book of Boba Fett trailer, paving the way for Bossk’s return.

Cobb Vanth

Because Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will be primarily based on Tatooine in The Book of Boba Fett, it’s likely that they’ll have more run-ins with self-proclaimed local marshal Cobb Vanth. Vanth made his live-action Star Wars debut in The Mandalorian season 2, where he was seen sporting Boba Fett’s own armor before giving it up to Din Djarin. It’s unclear how exactly Vanth would react to Fett trying to seize more underworld power on Tatooine, but it’s safe to assume he wouldn’t be a fan of such a move.

Qi’ra

Every Star Wars Character Who Could Return In Book Of Boba Fett

The Star Wars universe is a treacherous place, largely because of the many gangs, mercenary guilds, and crime syndicates that rule the Outer Rim. One of the biggest such syndicates is Crimson Dawn, a group once ruled by former Sith Lord Darth Maul, and later by Han Solo’s childhood flame Qi’ra. As far as Disney has revealed, Qi’ra is presumably still alive during the events of The Mandalorian, and as the leader of Crimson Dawn, she might not take too kindly to Boba Fett and Fennec Shand trying to seize power in the underworld. That could lead to a Qi’ra villain plotline in The Book of Boba Fett, with a chance for Emilia Clarke to return to the Star Wars universe.

The Bad Batch

In the timeline of The Book of Boba Fett, any remaining normal clones of Jango Fett – those with accelerated growth and aging – would likely be dead. Captain Rex lived through the end of the Galactic Civil War, but he was an old man by the time the Empire was defeated. However, because of their other genetic mutations, it’s possible that some members of the Bad Batch – Hunter, Echo, Tech, or Wrecker – could have survived, even into the events of The Book of Boba Fett. Additionally, Omega – a perfect clone of Jango Fett, like Boba – would have grown up normally, making her about Boba’s own age. As Boba Fett becomes a bigger figure in the galactic underworld, it’s possible that some of his surviving kin, like the Bad Batch or Omega, would want to see him. If so, it could set up some interesting storylines in The Book of Boba Fett.

Grand Admiral Thrawn

Given what’s revealed in The Mandalorian season 2, it’s not too unlikely to see Grand Admiral Thrawn appear in some form in The Book of Boba Fett. Thrawn is being clearly built up as the big bad of Star Wars’ New Republic-era of shows, and though he probably wouldn’t play any kind of major role in The Book of Boba Fett, he could make a cameo to set up future appearances. In the wake of Palpatine’s defeat by Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, Thrawn would have had to go into hiding like Moff Gideon, possibly retreating into the same galactic underworld that Boba Fett is now trying to rule. There are obviously no guarantees, but a Thrawn tease in The Book of Boba Fett could set up some exciting crossover possibilities on Disney+ down the line.
