Every Upcoming Harry Styles Movie

Harry Styles is slated to star in several major movies in the coming years, marking a big career shift for the multi-talented singer. Styles originally got his start as a teenager on The X Factor in the U.K. when he was placed into the Simon Cowell-engineered boy band, One Direction. Though the group did not win The X Factor, they went on to become a pop sensation as one of the world’s biggest musical acts. After the band broke up in 2015, Styles’ first post-One Direction project was a supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s 2016 historical blockbuster film Dunkirk. Though many were initially skeptical about his skills as an actor, the performance was widely praised by surprised critics, co-stars, and non-fans alike. Despite the success of his acting debut, Styles did not continue to pursue a career on the screen. Instead, he went back to his music and began crafting a wildly successful solo career, which has seen him release two hit albums, tour the world at sold-out venues, and win a Grammy.

However, after his latest tour was put on hold by the worldwide pandemic, Styles made his return to acting and took on leading roles in two highly anticipated upcoming films opposite prominent female costars. Additionally, he made a surprise appearance in the end credits scene of the MCU’s Eternals, promising future involvement with the monumental franchise as Thanos’ brother, Eros (aka Starfox).

Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller directed by Booksmart’s Olivia Wilde, scheduled to be released in theaters on September 23, 2022. Filmed in Los Angeles during the height of the pandemic, this was the first film that signaled a return to acting for Styles, as well as a second foray into directing for Wilde, causing the project to garner much public interest. Don’t Worry Darling is set in the 1950s California desert, and is about an unhappy housewife, Alice (played by Florence Pugh), who begins to question the nature of her small, idyllic community. Styles will play her husband, Jack, a seemingly charming man who is hiding dark secrets. In addition to Pugh and Styles, the cast includes many other high-profile stars, such as Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, Nick Kroll, and Wilde herself.

My Policeman

Another period piece that takes place in the 1950s, My Policeman is based on Bethan Roberts’ 2012 novel of the same name. It’s an independent film produced by Amazon Studios and written by Philadelphia’s Ron Nyswaner that centers around a doomed love triangle. Styles plays Tom Burgess, a Brighton police officer who falls in love with a man, Patrick (David Dawson), at a time when homosexuality was illegal and highly persecuted in Britain. Tom’s wife, Marion (played by The Crown’s Emma Corrin), struggles to share her husband with his lover until she eventually snaps under the pressure. In the 1990s, Tom and Marion take a sick Patrick into their home, causing them to recall the events that transpired between them decades earlier.

Unannounced Eternals Sequel/Marvel Project

Styles’ Eternals role seems to hint at big things to come for the star in future MCU projects. As Eros, otherwise known as Starfox, Styles’ character shows up at the end of the film to offer his help to the main cast, setting up a significant part for himself in the very likely (but as yet unannounced) Eternals sequel. Since Styles is now included in the MCU, the door is also open for him to appear in a potentially long list of upcoming Marvel movies, giving him endless opportunities to establish himself as the mainstream movie star he is well on his way to becoming. It’s safe to say that Harry Styles is not done surprising audiences yet, and it will be very exciting to see where his already well-accomplished career goes from here.
