Fall Guys Has a Trophy So Difficult That Devs Don’t Expect Anyone To Get It

While Fall Guys may look cute and easy, it has an achievement so hard the game’s lead developer doesn’t think anyone will be able to achieve it.

The gameshow royale experience Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout apparently has an achievement the devs don’t think anyone will be able to get. The 60-player battle royale style party game comes with a number of achievements ranging from super easy to pretty challenging, but the devs think one of the achievements is impossible.

In an age of gaming where a new battle royale is brought to the scene seemingly every week, Fall Guys is a unique take on the genre replacing combat with game show challenges. Think Wipeout! but 60 people running the course at one time. The game’s beta has already taken the internet by storm, and the full release is only going to increase in notoriety once it lands on the PlayStation store as one of the PS Plus free games this month. That means that plenty of people will get a shot at a particular, supposedly impossible trophy on day one.

During a Reddit AMA on the PS4 subreddit, the Fall Guys’s developers were asked about their game and the decisions made leading up to launch. One user asked if the game would have trophies and, if so, how challenging they are. Fall Guys’ lead developer Joe Walsh stated that the game does have trophies and that “one of them is so insanely hard I don’t think anyone will ever unlock it.” Another developer, Ben Nizan, said the game’s trophies range in difficulty from giving another player a hug to winning several games in a row. After scouring the list of achievements, it was decided that the impossible achievement Walsh was referring to is one titled “Infallible” and it requires the player to win five Fall Guys shows in a row. Out of the 35 achievements, Infallible is by far the hardest one on the list, and it may very well be impossible for most.

While other battle royale games such as Fortnite or Call of Duty: Warzone have world record win streaks in the high tens, Fall Guys requires more dumb luck than anything. There are contestants on shows like Wipeout! that are absolute specimens of athleticism that fail a course because of one silly mess up, and Fall Guys is the same way. Its random, wacky, and goofy, and is an overall fun time, but players shouldn’t expect to win too often. In fact, a player should consider themselves pretty darn lucky if they win twice in a row let alone five.

This kind of challenge is great to prolong the life of a game and represents what a good set of achievements should be. Achievements are so often forgotten because of how little of a challenge they offer. Completing some achievements are as easy as turning on the game for the first time, and it belittles the feeling of accomplishment when earning others. Fall Guys has a pretty good mesh of easy and hard, but the Infallible challenge is one that will keep players playing and is a badge well worth the effort needed to achieve it.
