The critically acclaimed sitcom Family Guy is one of the most beloved and controversial shows of all time. While the focus is on the Griffin family, it’s safe to say that Family Guy wouldn’t be the same without Chris Griffin. Like most middle children, Chris struggles to get attention.

The Griffins are known for being selfish and mean spirited from time to time. Indeed, Chris is similar to his family in that sense. However, he can also be sweet, kind, and a little naive. There have been times that he’s the most relatable character in the family by far.

Chris Griffin grapples with feelings of insecurity and depression. In particular, Chris is insecure when it comes to his weight and body image. His character evolved over the years, but his body image issues have been around since the first season. Like a lot of teenagers, he struggles with fitting in and the changes his body goes through.

In the episode “Movin’ In (Principal Shepherd’s Song),” Chris is humiliated when Principal Shepherd fat shames him in front of the entire school. Chris is devastated and runs home in tears. It’s a painful moment for Chris that many teenagers go through.

Chris Griffin might not be the smartest or most liked person in the world but he does show signs of wisdom and maturity. In the episode “Dearly Deported,” Chris falls in love with a woman he meets at the pool, Isabella. However, she happens to be a single mother with twins.

He loves Isabella and the twins despite his mother’s objections. Later, the government deports Isabella, but Chris agrees to take care of the kids. In the end, Chris realizes he’s not ready for the responsibility and maturely expresses his feelings to Isabella.

8 Chris And Stewie Lose A Pet

Family Guy is known for its crude and surreal humor. However, the show often tackles tough subjects and throws in a few jokes. The show has dealt with losing a close friend a few times. In the episode “Boys & Squirrels,” Chris and Stewie find an injured squirrel and nurse it back to health.

They love their pet deeply and treat it like their child. Later, Chris and Stewie are devastated when the squirrel tragically passes away. Chris and Stewie struggle with losing their pet and go through the stages of grieving. They end up blaming each other but solve their issues in counseling.

It’s no secret that Chris Griffin struggles with dating and talking to girls. He often has no confidence and comes across creepy. However, he also follows his heart and takes risks. For instance, Chris falls madly in love with Jerome’s daughter Pam in the episode, “Baby Got Black.”

Peter and Lois feel a bit uncomfortable, but Jerome flat out forbids the relationship. Regardless, Chris and Pam want to be together, which leads to them running off. Chris won’t let anything stand in the way of his feelings or love for Pam. That’s a love story that many have been through.

6 Chris Struggles With Dieting And Exercise

As noted, Chris Griffin struggles with his physical appearance and weight. However, he’s always been comforted that his father, Peter, goes through the same issues. Of course, that temporarily changes. In season 2, Chris is humiliated when hotel staff and guests mock him for being overweight.

Chris is devastated but goes on a diet and exercises, although he struggles. Later, Peter gets liposuction and other cosmetic surgeries. His ego becomes enormous, and Chris feels their relationship is falling apart. Peter becomes like every other beautiful person, making Chris feel bad about himself.

5 Chris Gets Embarrassed In Front Of The School

High school can be challenging, but there’s nothing worse than a publicly embarrassing moment. Indeed, teenagers never forget. Chris Griffin knows that better than anyone. In the episode “Stew-Roids,” the unthinkable happens when Chris starts dating the popular girl Connie D’Amico. He becomes one of the popular kids for the first time in his life.

Of course, it goes straight to his head, and his ego becomes enormous. Chris learns a harsh lesson when Meg and Connie show Chris’s embarrassing home video in front of the entire school. Chris is devastated and returns to being one of the uncool kids.

Chris Griffin struggles in school and isn’t the smartest kid in the world. Characters mock him for his lack of intelligence. Chris is also very sensitive, and his feeling gets hurt easily. In the episode “Space Cadet,” Chris overhears his parents discussing his low IQ and lack of intelligence.

Chris is very hurt and plans to prove them wrong. He goes to space camp but eventually hates it and wants to leave. However, the family gets trapped on a space shuttle. Luckily, Chris proves his intelligence when he saves the day. Proving doubters wrong is something a lot of people can relate to.

3 Chris And Meg’s Sibling Relationship

Meg Griffin is the eldest child in the Griffin family and is usually the butt of the joke. Peter and Lois can be ruthless and mean to their only daughter. Chris and Meg have a typical sibling relationship. Of course, Chris sometimes joins in on being mean to her. However, they also have a very close relationship.

Chris appears to care deeply for his older sister. Indeed, he can relate to Meg and the bullying she goes through. Chris and Meg often stick together and have each other’s back. For instance, Chris and Meg once teamed up in a vicious fight against several of their classmates in the cafeteria.

2 Chris Dates Taylor Swift

Chris Griffin has always been unlucky when it comes to love. However, he’s dated his fair share of beautiful women, including pop sensation Taylor Swift. In the episode “Chris Has Got a Date, Date, Date, Date, Date,” Stewie urges Chris to reach out to Taylor after he gets turned down for the prom. Taylor agrees to be his date, and they develop feelings for each other.

However, Chris is hurt when Taylor releases a song insulting him. Later, Chris realizes Taylor’s fans want her to sing about heartbreak and being unhappy. Chris sacrifices his happiness and ends the relationship with Taylor for the sake of her career.

1 Chris Struggles To Live Up To Peter’s Expectations

Chris has always struggled to live up to his father Peter’s expectations. Chris and Peter have a complicated relationship at times. Peter has little to no regard for Chris’s feelings. He even gives Chris terrible advice that often backfires. In the episode “Long John Peter,” Peter convinces Chris to be mean to his date Anna and everything goes wrong.

Regardless, Chris usually takes Peter’s advice but has stood up to his father. Chris can only take so much criticism and mean comments. That back and forth with his parent is something that many can relate to.
